The scene begins with Cable target practicing outside the X-Men mansion. From the Professor's office, Cyclops watches over him as he shots down glass bottles with his rifle. However, he is interrupted by Jean entering the room.
Jean: Have you two had a chance to speak?
Cyclops: Apparently, his mutant power includes vanishing from any room I enter.
Jean: He's stubborn. Wonder where he got it.
Jean stands next to him as they both look at him.
Cyclops: Any word why Bishop's not with him?
Jean: He told Beast they were separated in the time stream.
Cable sits on a bench as he polishes his rifle.
Jean: Nathan... Cable, landed in the future alone.
Cyclops: I sent Nathan away to give him the best possible future. And it was so horrible, he's come back to stop it.
Jean: Think of it another way. Your son came back because he needs his father.
Cyclops: I'm doing a bang-up job. Never thought to ask the Professor to show me how he did what he did so well. Be a father.
Jean: Some lessons are taught, Scott. Others are learned.
Cyclops holds her as the scene changes to the X-Men in the meeting room. Cable shows them diagrams regarding any information on their target.
Cable: His name is Bastion. In my timeline, he used the fallout from Genosha to get backing for his Prime Sentinel program. But that ain't the worst part. The Prime Sentinels are created using the same Techno-Organic Virus Sinister infected me with as a baby, rewriting their DNA.
Beast: If true, his Prime Sentinels would be living weapons capable of reproducing, literally giving birth to a new apex species designed to replace mutants like humans did Neanderthals.
Cable: Exactly. Bastion's evolutionary war lasted 300 years.
Morph: So another dystopia where Logan is the last to die.
Logan scoffs at the comment.
Cable: No. A utopia. Like old pieces of tech, Bastion saved humanity by upgrading them.
The scene changes to a thriving civilization with technological advancements.
Cable: Any mutant who survived was put to work.
The scene changes to mutants being put to work while Bastion's men watch them.
Cable: Xavier's dream came true. Mutants ushered in a bright and peaceful future as its backbone.
The scene changes to a mutant using her abilities on another planet and another mutant fixing the Golden Gate Bridge. The scene transitions back to the meeting room.
Logan: Why the heck didn't you stop Genosha?
Cyclops: Take a seat, Logan.
Logan: Aw, Daddy's home.
Cable: I've tried it all, over and over.
A small holographic cube appears out of Cable's metallic arm.
Automated voice: Each time we attempt to stop the attack on Genosha, we are temporally pulled away from the event.
Beast: Strange. The mystics of Kamar-Taj speak of absolute points. Events that occur across all timelines. Cable could travel to the very moment Genosha fell, but time would stop him.
