It was Saturday morning and time for Maisie's match. They were playing Sunderland and it was important for them to win. They hadn't had the greatest start to their season and they needed to improve their performances.
Keira was driving her over and they were meeting their parents at the game. She didn't take her meds at the weekend so she was even more chatty than usual.
"Dad!" Maisie cheered excitedly as she ran in for a hug.
"Ahh hello mush. How you doing?" he asked, hugging her back.
"Good."
"Hi mum," Maisie said, moving on to do the same with her.
"Hello darling. How are you?" she asked.
"I'm good."
After a quick chat, Maisie ran off to her team and left her parents and Keira behind.
"How's she doing?" Tracy asked. She constantly worried that it was the wrong choice having Maisie live with Keira but she really didn't need to.
"She's fine mum. Still as energetic as ever but we've had no incidents since last time we saw you."
The three of them walked to beside the pitch, waiting for the game to kick off.
On the other side of the pitch, the coaches were giving their final instructions.
"Right Mais I'm loving the energy we have today," Darren said, "So let's use this in the game. Move your defenders around. Make runs and keep them on their toes. You might not always get the ball but you'll be creating space for others."
Maisie nodded. She was ready to go. She'd woken up completely full of energy and had practically bounced through the entire warm up.
As soon as they kicked off, Maisie was moving. She didn't stop running and at half time they were winning 2-0 with Maisie scoring 1.
Sunderland came into the second half much stronger and they managed to pull it back to 2 all.
"Come on girls we can't lose this," Maisie said, "Let's get another one."
They hadn't managed it and time was running out. It was the final minute of the game and they were running up the pitch. Harriet had the ball and she had a lot of space.
"Yes," Maisie shouted, pointing to the gap she wanted it in. It was an easy pass and one that would put her on for a good chance of scoring.
For some reason Harriet didn't do it. She gave Maisie one look before passing to Zara instead. Zara had a defender on her and they swooped in and won the ball.
Maisie was furious. They had a perfect chance and Harriet hadn't taken it. It was an easy pass and certainly the obvious decision. For whatever weird reason, Harriet seemed to have taken against Maisie. She wasn't exactly the friendliest to anyone in training but she seemed downright rude when it came to talking to Maisie.
The teenager had tried to push it out of her mind, deciding she was just being silly, Harriet was probably still getting used to the team, but that incident had got her thinking. Maybe it was personal. Maybe Harriet didn't like her.
The ref blew her whistle and Maisie stormed from the pitch, absolutely fuming. She was probably blowing it a bit out of proportion but she couldn't help it.
All of the girls were annoyed that they hadn't won, they'd been on top for most of it, and not a single one was happy when they left the pitch.
"Why didn't you pass to me?" Maisie asked.
"I didn't think you'd do anything with it," Harriet replied snottily. She had this stuck-up air about her and it was really getting on Maisie's nerves.
