Maisie was still in a pretty bad mood the next day. She had her airpods in and was refusing to say anything to Lucy or Keira.

"Are you going to come and watch us play this afternoon?" Keira asked, poking her head round the door to her room.

"No."

"Come on it'll be fun. And mum and dad want to see you."

"I don't want to see them."

"I don't think that's true."

"Why won't you just listen to what I have to say? I don't want to come just like I didn't want fucking Erin Toone to come for dinner," Maisie said, standing up and moving to shut the door.

Keira stood outside the door and took a breath. She just needed to give her a minute to calm down.

They were about to head out to go to the ground and Lucy went to check on Maisie.

"Come on mush, come and watch us play. Your mum and dad want to see you and afterwards we can have the Costa trip I promised you."

She thought about it.

"Fine."

They drove along and Maisie sat without saying word. She was still angry about the evening before and had let it take over her. She did that sometimes and it always made her feel bad but she just couldn't stop it.

When she felt angry about something it just took over her and it felt like there was nothing she could do about it.

They got to the ground and parked before getting out and heading outside.

It was ages before kick off so there weren't any fans around.

Steph saw them and came over, always pleased to see her favourite teenager.

"Hello you," she said cheerfully. Maisie was in such a bad mood that even Steph couldn't cheer her up.

"Hey," she said but it was obvious something was wrong.

"You alright?" she asked.

"Yeah," she lied.

They chatted a bit and then it was time for them to go warm up.

"Mum and dad are sat in the stand if you want to go up," Keira said to her sister.

Maisie got up and headed out, not even responding to her.

"Is she alright?" Steph asked when she'd gone.

"No," Keira sighed, "Been proper mardy since yesterday. We had Erin Toone over to try sort out their little fight and apparently it didn't go well."

Maisie had her airpods in and walked out to the stands where her parents were.

"Alright mush?" her dad asked.

"No," she replied, sitting down.

"What's up?" her mum asked.

"That stupid fucking cow is so stuck up."

"Who?"

"Bloody Erin Toone."

"Dinner not go well?"

"No it didn't. It was shit."

She told her parents all about it, getting everything off her chest and showing just how angry she was. Her parents listened attentively, willing to do anything to help their daughter.

"And then when it was time to go, she fucking smiled. Am I really that awful to be around?"

"No of course you aren't," her mum said, putting her arm around her daughter. She hated that her daughter could get so worked up and feel so awful about herself.
