It was the weekend and Maisie and Erin had met up. Erin's week had been super shit and what Maisie wanted to do was cheer her up.

"And you promise me that everything is okay?"

"I promise," Erin said although she couldn't make eye contact.

The two of them were sat opposite each other in Costa and everything else melted away as Maisie instantly made Erin laugh.

"So you called her an absolute spoon and she sent you out?" she laughed.

"Yeah. I didn't know that she'd get so offended."

"You're such a nightmare."

After they'd both finished their drinks, they walked to the local park. Maisie had her arm slung around Erin's shoulders and in that moment, Erin felt completely protected.

They spoke about all sorts of stuff and the two of them had large beams on their faces.

As they walked, they spotted someone familiar.

"Oh hiya," Rebecca said when she saw her friend.

"Hey," Erin said, "Maisie this is Rebecca. Do you remember from your managed move?"

"Oh yeah hi."

They chatted for a little bit before Rebecca needed to go.

"Well it's good to see you happy after this week," she said to Erin with a smile.

"After this week?" Maisie asked. Her heart was hammering; she knew there was something going on.

"Yeah," Rebecca said, "All the comments and stuff."

Erin had fallen silent and all the colour had drained from her.

"Well I'll see you Monday," Rebecca said, slightly confused at the pairs reaction.

"What comments?" Maisie asked when she was gone, "You have to tell me what's going on."

She looked towards her girlfriend and Erin burst into tears.

"Woah it's okay," Maisie reassured her as she walked them over to the nearest bench and sat down.

Together they sat there, Erin sobbing into Maisie's chest as she stroked her hair and kissed the top of her head every now and again.

"Please tell me what's going on."

Erin had calmed down a little bit so through her tears, she explained what was happening.

"And they keep saying stupid stuff about my sexuality and I hate it. All I want to do is just get on with my life but they're always there. Someone is always saying something."

Her sobs had worsened again and Maisie was holding her tightly. She could feel the fury pulsing through her but she tried to bury it; all Erin needed right now was to be comforted.

"I'm so sorry," she said.

They then fell into silence, the only sound being Erin's sobs.

"Why didn't you tell me?" Maisie asked once her girlfriend's tears had stopped.

"I don't know. I just couldn't. I'm sorry."

"No I'm sorry that you've been going through this alone."

"Have you told your parents?" she asked after a few minutes of quiet.

"No."

"You need to. Promise me you'll tell them tonight."

"I promise."

"This needs to be sorted out."

"I know."
