Maisie was completely excited and hyper. She was driving her parents mad but they were trying to be as calm as possible; they knew why she was being so wild.
Maisie was going to be spending the whole Christmas holidays in Barcelona with Keira and Lucy and she was so excited. They were going to have three whole weeks together and she couldn't wait to just spend time with them.
"Is it time to go yet?" Maisie asked for the hundredth time, belly flopping on the sofa.
"No darling. We're going to leave at 12 remember," Tracy told her, trying not to sound as annoyed as she felt.
"That's ages," she groaned.
"Isn't it just," her mum muttered under her breath.
Finally it was time to leave and they loaded up into the car. Maisie was going to be travelling on her own as her parents needed to work and would be joining them closer to Christmas day. The thought of her going alone was a very nerve wracking one as they all knew how much redirection and stimulation she needed.
As she was an unaccompanied minor, an airport worker was going to be helping her through security and making sure she got onto the right plane.
"Okay darling make sure you behave yourself. I know you're totally over excited but do exactly as the adults tell you and try not to cause any trouble."
"I won't mum," Maisie said but Tracy wasn't entirely convinced.
"I love you and I'll miss you."
"I love you too," she said, giving her a hug. She then did the same with her dad before following the guy who'd been put in charge of her.
"Behave for Keira and Lucy," Peter called after her.
"I'll try."
Being a huge extrovert, Maisie soon found out everything about Paul, the man who was helping her. He was a nice guy and they chatted the entire time.
He soon found out why her parents had told him to keep a close eye on her and he had to stop her from messing about.
"No don't touch that," he said.
"But it looks fun to touch," she said.
"Just don't."
"Fine," she huffed.
They kept walking and soon got through all the security stuff and they were through to the waiting area.
"Oh my God please can I drive one of those?" she asked, eyeing up the golf cart style things that were made to help people who couldn't walk.
"No," he chuckled, "That's an accident waiting to happen."
"I'm such a good driver though."
"It's still a no."
"Boring."
The pair carried on walking.
"What would happen if I shouted bomb?" Maisie asked.
"Don't you dare," Paul said.
After chatting some more, it was time for her to board.
"Bye Paul," she waved as she went to get on, "It was nice meeting you. Enjoy Christmas at the in-laws."
"I will," he laughed, "It was very nice meeting you too. Have a nice time in Barcelona."
With that she was on the plane. She was shown to her seat by one of the flight attendants.
Because of her ADHD, they'd managed to get her the seat right at the front so she had lots of leg room and there was less chance of her getting on people's nerves.
