Christian Fletcher was battling for his life.

It had been two days since Evangeline received the news of Christian's accident.
Two days without leaving his side, two days of shutting the world out.

She remained at the hospital, and today, Rhea was with her.

As they awaited updates on Christian's condition, Rhea placed a comforting hand on Evie's.

"Babe, you should get some sleep," Rhea said softly.

Evie hadn't slept in two days. All she could think about was how they ended up here, waiting for Christian to wake up, waiting to hear from him.

She looked at Rhea with tired eyes. "I want him to wake up, Rhea. He doesn't deserve this."

Rhea nodded weakly.

Everyone knew the news would devastate the princess, but this way? Ever since she heard the news, Evie had been here—at the hospital, refusing to leave.

Anger - the ever most emotion for him.
Guilt - after what she heard about his accident.
Fear - will she ever forgive herself?

Evie wrestled with these emotions, each feeling a weight on her heart.

🔸
She was in Damien's arms, the most secure place for her to be. She wouldn't have wanted to be anywhere else at the moment. She only wanted to stay in his arms, as he carresed her.

Then, her phone rang.

'Christian Fletcher met with an accident.'

The news struck her like a bolt of lightning.

Evie pulled away from Damien, the sudden movement leaving a void in his arms.

Her emotions were a whirlwind. Shock numbed her momentarily, quickly followed by a surge of fear that gripped her heart.

"Princess, what's wrong? What happened?"

Damien, confused and concerned by her sudden withdrawal, tried to calm her down. His voice was steady, his hands gentle as he tried to make sense of the situation.

But Evie's mind was racing, her thoughts consumed by Christian's accident.

"We need to go to the hospital," she managed, her voice trembling. They dressed quickly and left the villa in haste. Evie was visibly distraught, her worry palpable in every hurried step. Damien, concerned for her well-being, made calls to his sources, trying to gather information about what had happened.

As Damien drove towards the hospital, his gaze kept drifting towards Evie. She stared ahead, her eyes fixed on the road but her mind clearly elsewhere. He placed a comforting hand on her thigh, silently reassuring her that everything would be alright.
