Evangeline had returned from Wellington a week ago and was now fully immersed in her work. Today marked the final meeting with Miss Adkins to discuss the property allocation, and Evie was determined to convince her that Christian Hastings was not the deserving candidate.

The office was quiet, the cold winter breeze seeping in through the windows as Evie sat across from Miss Adkins. She was prepared to make her case when Miss Adkins surprised her with a warm smile and unexpected words.

"Congratulations, Miss Evangeline."

Evie furrowed her brow, confused. "What do you mean?"

Miss Adkins continued, "Mr. Hastings withdrew his interest in the property a few days ago. He's no longer in the running."

Evie blinked, completely taken aback. Christian withdrew? She had expected him to fight tooth and nail, driven by some twisted desire to see her fail.

The unexpected turn of events left her stunned.

"We'll finalize the paperwork and send everything to your manager," Miss Adkins continued, still smiling. "Everything should be settled in a few days, Princess."

Nodding numbly, Evie thanked her and left the office, a sense of victory washing over her. She had wanted this property for so long, and while Theo had offered to help, she had insisted on securing it on her own.

As she stepped outside into the brisk winter afternoon, Keith followed closely behind her. She smiled to herself, savoring the moment. Just as she reached for her car door, a strong arm wrapped around her waist, pulling her back against a familiar chest. Startled at first, she quickly relaxed as the scent of his cologne filled her senses.

A smile tugged at her lips as she instinctively wrapped her arms around Damien's neck. He was impeccably dressed in his usual formal attire—black as always—with his dark hair perfectly styled and his eyes holding that gentle, knowing look.

"Congratulations, Your Royal Highness," Damien said softly, pressing a kiss to her cheek.

"How did you—" Evie began, surprised.

"I have my sources," he winked, smirking playfully as she glared at him.

"C'mon, Princess, I knew about your meeting with Adkins. And when I saw you here, your smile said it all."

"I could've been smiling at a funny memory," she teased, lightly biting his nose.

He chuckled, his fingers brushing through her hair. "I've been around long enough to read your smiles."

As always, his presence calmed her in ways she couldn't explain. He leaned closer, his voice low and intimate. "Tonight is ours, Princess."

Her heart did a little flip at the reminder of their date tonight—their first date. She couldn't help the grin that spread across her face. "Only if you actually show up," she teased, raising an eyebrow.
