The day had passed, and Evie had maintained her distance from Damien, as he had suggested. Her heart ached at the thought of him being afraid, only because she was a princess.

She wanted him.
She craved for him.

She knew he felt the same connection. But the situation around them, his irrational thoughts, were things she could do nothing about.

But she knew she could not stay away as well.

In the evening, she walked out of her room and saw him seated on the couch, typing on his laptop. She knew he hadn't left the house today; he had stayed back and worked from home.

She knew he was worried about her, but he hid it well.

She had to get him to warm up to her.

He sensed her presence and shut the laptop, placing it aside on the table.

"I hope I'm not disturbing you. I can walk back inside." she declared.

He turned to face her, and his heart melted. She looked so beautiful in her post-nap state, her hair a mess, her eyes still heavy with sleep.

"This place is yours too, Princess. You don't have to stay in your room all the time." he declared.

She nodded, standing in silence as he watched her from the couch.

"Are you ready for dinner?" he asked.

She wasn't hungry.

"Can we watch a movie?" she asked instead, her eyes twinkling with hope.

Please say yes.
Please say yes.

He nodded. He knew he couldn't shut her out completely. She was trapped with him, and he had to give her space but still make her feel at home.

"We can watch it under the stars."

Evie gave him a puzzled look, but he just took her hand and led her to the courtyard garden.

Her eyes were on their intertwined hands.

There, Kanat was setting up a cozy outdoor movie area—plush blankets and pillows spread out, a projector aimed at a large screen, and twinkling fairy lights casting a magical glow.

Even if he had set the boundaries, all he could think of was having her in his arms.

He watched her as she looked around, her eyes wide with wonder. This beautiful, strong woman had been through so much, and yet here she was, finding joy in the simplest of things. Damien's heart swelled with protectiveness. He wanted nothing more than to keep her safe, to shield her from the world and all its dangers.

They settled in under the night sky, the stars twinkling above them. Kanat finished setting up and discreetly withdrew, leaving them alone.

As the movie began, Damien found himself unable to focus on the screen. Instead, he watched Evie, noting the way the light danced in her eyes. She was seated right next to him, still maintaining her distance.
