Octavia Lestrange

I run through the empty hallways while trying to remember where the gryffindor common room entrance is, my fear running high, bringing me everywhere but the right place.

Calm down, I tell myself, my head spinning and my mind racing.
The portrait of the fat lady! It pops up into my mind, and I start running again. Towards the moving staircases, panting from all the running.

I step on one of the stairs, before looking around. I spot the portrait a few stories up, and I trip and run higher and higher until I end up in front of it.

"Password?" The fat lady says, her eyes darting to my robe, and then back to my face.

"I uhm, I need to speak to Harry Potter" I tell her, but she crosses her arms and shakes her head.

"Without a password, I cannot let you enter, young lady" she says.

I sigh. "It's important! It's about the dark lord!" I blurt out, trying again.

She gasps, before leaning into the wall next to her. "The dark lord? Oh dear, hurry, hurry!" She shrieks, and then her portrait swings open.

I walk through the opening and end up in the common room, multiple faces looking at me.

"What are you doing here?!" A voice says, and I look up and meet the face of Neville.

"Neville, I need to speak to harry!" I tell him, my hands sweaty. "Please get him for me. It's an emergency" i say, giving him a small smile and a pleading look.

He looks surprised at my smile, but then he suddenly turns around and sprints up the stairs, I assume to go and get Potter.

Multiple people around me shoot me disgusted looks, they start whispering, pointing and scowling at me, except for one, and I recognize her as Ginny Weasley.

I walk over to her and grab a chair to sit next to her. "Hey, how are you holding up?" I ask, trying to get a conversation started.

She smiles a genuine smile. "I'm terrified, but I'll manage. What about you? Your mother is a death eater right? Aren't you scared"

I shrug my shoulders. "I'm scared shitless of my mother, but that's not what concerns me the most right now. I'm more scared about all the innocent people that are going to be killed tonight" I state, staring at the fireplace.

She nods. "It's not fair isn't it? They get killed for having 'dirty blood', or for being in someone's way. That's not their fault."

I bite down on my lips. "It isn't fair, I'll give you that" I whisper.

"You're different than your mother huh?"she says, more a statement than a question, and I look at her.

"I am, and I'm ashamed that monster is my mother, I hate her" I say, the words coming straight from my heart.

Out of the corner of my eyes I spot Neville standing there, listening to our conversation. Behind him is Harry, and they both look surprised.

I turn to them and look at Neville. "It's true, I hate her just as much as you do Neville, she scares me, and I despise her" I tell him, and he, for the first time ever smiles at me.

Harry walks up to me and Ginny. "You said you wanted to talk?" He asks, and I nod slightly.
He glances around the common room, multiple people still staring at me, and then he nods towards the stairs. "Let's go to my dorm, I don't want people to eavesdrop" he says, and I stand up and follow him up the stairs, Ginny and Neville following us.

We enter his dorm, and he closes the door behind us before looking at me expectantly, his gaze stern but somehow understanding.

"Harry, you need to leave the castle, take all of your friends and loved ones too" I blurt out, no time to waste. "Voldemort is coming after you, if you leave, think about the lives you can save"
