08 || Care of magical creatures

The last week of winter vacation flew by incredibly fast.

It was a lot of laughing, partying and talking, and not to forget bickering and fighting between me and Mattheo, but it was fun.

I enjoy it here, the people in the friend group are nice, and me and Theo became pretty close, we smoked a couple of joints together, shared some childhood stories, and he seems to understand me when I talk about my feelings.

I've been distancing myself from Draco and I know he hates it, but I can't have him being in love with me again, I just can't. It all went wrong before and I don't want to experience that ever again.

Daphne has been really nice to me too. She's way different from Astoria, who, may I mention, is more terrible to me than ever together with Pansy, but I've done a great job at ignoring them so far, although some comments really got in my head.

I'm already awake before my alarm, so I turned it off. I love the feeling of waking up before your alarm, it feels like achieving something.

I sit up and slide my feet into my green fuzzy slippers, and then I get to my closet, picking out a warm outfit.

We start with a free period today, and after that we have Care of magical creatures for two full hours, and then we're already free.

It's an easy day, ad we are absolutely blessed because Daphne, who is a year above us, starts with a full day of lessons.

The poor girl.

I told the others I would join them for breakfast in the great hall, so I get ready as fast as I can, putting on just a little of makeup and my hair in a low ponytail, and then I make my way to the great hall.

I walk through the halls fast and before I know it I bump into someone, I turn around to see Mattheo standing there.

"Watch where you're going, Riddle" I spit out, crossing my arms. He really doesn't care about the world around him.

"You bumped into me?" He says, a questioning expression spreading over his face, and I shrug my shoulders, blankly staring at him.

"I didn't, fuck off." I sneer at him, and he just looks at me in disbelief before turning around and walking away.

That was easy.

I continue walking and enter the great hall, quickly finding our group. I walk up to them and sit down next to Theo.

"Good morning! did you sleep well T?" I ask him, putting some eggs and bread on my plate along with some orange juice in my glass.

"I've slept great? what about you?" He looks at me with a smile, and I smile back at him.

I finish chewing and swallow my food before answering him. "I slept fine, are you excited about class?"

"Not really, I heard Hagrid will be our teacher for care of magical creatures, what a bummer, I would've rather had Kettleburn teach us, he was way better" Theo says, sipping away at his orange juice, and I simply shrug.

"We'll see, Hagrid is that big ass guy right? The one who's besties with Potter?" I ask him.

He nods his head. "Exactly, we'll be having mixed classes together with Gryffindor, so Potter will be there too."

"Just what we need" I shake my head and continue eating my breakfast until i'm full and then I wait for the others to finish, so we can go back to the common room together.

Pansy and Astoria look at me, but they keep themselves pretty quiet the whole time, and I'm glad they do.

I've talked about it with Theo, about the comments they make and the never ending bickering, and he hates it too, the fact they like to make me feel miserable. He's stood up for me multiple times, but they never seem to stop.

"So, Pansy was awfully quiet this morning." Theo says when we enter my dorm together.

I shrug my shoulders and jump down on my bed. "Sure, I love it though, she finally shuts up about me, I hate when she comments on everything I do."

Theo sits down next to me and carefully wraps his arms around me. "I know, just hex her the next time, or it will be a never ending battle."

I nod my head and smile. "Thanks for listening to my problems." I let out a laugh and he just shrugs his shoulders.

"That's what friends do, now, we better get ready, we have about," He looks at his phone. "Fifteen minutes to get to Hagrids hut"

I groan and look at him. "You also got that crazy book right? The monster book of monsters? The one that Bites?"

He rolls his eyes. "Yes, I almost lost my fingers to it when getting it, the poor shop owner was terrified when I said I needed one."

"I put a belt around it." I grab the book from underneath my bed, holding it up. "It's calmed down now, but I have full on nightmares because of it."

"I believe that, now come on." he says. We stand up and walk out of my dorm, stopping by Theo's dorm to get his book, and then together with the rest of the group we walk out of the castle and towards Hagrids hut.

We all gather around in a circle, Gryffindors and Slytherins, and Hagrid walks out of his hut and onto the steps.

I take a slight step back, this man is fucking Huge.

"My name is Rubeus Hagrid. I'll be your Care of magical creatures teacher for this year, since professor Kettleburn has retired recently. Now follow me, I've got a real treat for you today." he says, and then he starts walking towards and into the forbidden forest.

Hagrid stops us at an open spot in the forest. "Form a group over there, oh and open your books at page forty-nine" He says, and I stop in my tracks.

I hold my book up at and stare at him. "Exactly how do we do that?" I ask

Hagrid turns around and looks at me. "You just stroke the spine, have you not yet figured that out?" He says, and then he shakes his head.

I look at Theo and raise my eyebrows before softly stroking the spine of the book, and it seems to calm down. "Really? it was this easy? Not funny" I groan.

Hermione slams her book down at a stone and stares at potter, and then at Hagrid. "I do think they're funny, the books."

I stare at her and shake my head. "Oh yeah, terribly funny, really witty. This place has gone to the dogs. Wait till my mother hears that Dumbledore's got this oaf teaching classes." I say, rolling my eyes.

"Shut up, Lestrange." Potter shouts at me, and I look at Draco and Theo before letting out a laugh.

"Finally got the courage to stick up for your Girlfriend, Potter?" I spit out at him, and he just shakes his head.

"She's not his girlfriend, Back off Octavia." Neville Longbottom speaks up, and I smirk.

"What are you gonna do, Longbottom? Don't forget who my mother is eh?" I tell him, and he swallows hard before backing away.

"Absolutely pathetic." I sigh and look at Theo. "They really are scared, aren't they?"

"They're Potters group, what do you think?" He says. I want to answer, but I get rudely interrupted by Hagrid.

"Now, everyone, look at this beauty. This is Buckbeak, he's a Hippogriff." he points at the creature, and I shake my head.

This lesson is going to be absolutely crazy.
