The three of them slowly walked to the staircase. “Just one more floor left.” Alice said.
Perrine looked at the red haired woman. She gave her a look of concern. “You okay?” She asked softly.
“Yeah. Just thinking a bit.” Rachel responded. As she did, she gave the magician a forced smile. “It's….a lot to take in.”
“I'm sure it is. Still, it doesn't change who you are. You're still our friend.” Perrine said softly while walking next to the redhead. “We will stick by you as long as you don't do anything bad.” She said.
“Oh great. Thanks for the confidence.” Rachel responded while hanging her head in an exaggerated manner.
“We still have standards, you know. If you do something we disagree with, we'll put you in your place.” Alice chimed in as they walked up the stairs.
“And we know how to change your mind.” Perrine said in a mischievous tone.
Suddenly, Rachel felt a finger poke her side. The redhead jumped and giggled. “Hehehey!” She said while trying to push Perrine away.
The brown haired magician smiled as she took a step closer. “There's more if you try to be evil.” She said in a joking manner.
“Okay! Okay! I won't be evil.” Rachel responded while keeping her hands on her sides. The two women giggled as they continued up the steps. Alice listened to them, smiling as she stayed in front of them.
Soon, silence fell over the three of them. They ascended the stairs slowly, each keeping to themselves. Several minutes passed by until Rachel chimed up. “What's the plan when we get up there?” She asked.
“We kill this ‘mother’ and free Zac. We tell him the truth and get out of this stupid tower.” Alice responded.
“And if he doesn't believe us?” Perrine asked.
“Then I'll make sure he realizes it's the truth.” Alice said, her tone getting harsher.
“How are you going to do that?” Rachel asked.
“I have my ways.” Alice said while flashing the other two a smile. Rachel and Perrine looked at each other, shrugging as they continued to walk up the staircase.
The three of them stopped at the top of the staircase. Alice took a deep breath while Rachel and Perrine took out their weapons. “We all ready?” Alice asked.
“Yep. Open it.” Rachel said while her eyes focused on the door. Slowly Alice opened the door and the three of them walked inside. The three of them found themselves in a large room. In the middle of the room was a single chair and a blonde woman sitting in it. Her black skirt and white shirt made her look professional, while her heels echoed throughout the room with every tap.
To their surprise, in front of the long haired woman was Zac who was looking down at the ground. “Zac!” Alice yelled out before running after him.
She managed to get close to him before he responded. “Why are you here?” He asked in a deadpan voice.
“For you. We came here to save you.” Perrine said in a shy tone.
“Save me? You were the ones that put me through hell.” The black haired man said before looking up at them. He showed them his lifeless eyes, shocking the three of them. “No matter how much I begged. No matter how much I passed out. No matter how much I gave you what you wanted, you three kept going. It never stopped until mother saved me.” He complained as he began to walk to them.
The three of them put up their guard as Zac walked closer. “That wasn't us. It was the shapeshifters!” Rachel yelled.
“Like those exist! I can buy the monster's but seriously! Shapeshifters! Sorry but I'm not that stupid!” Zac yelled back. “Then again. I guess you can call me one now.” He said before raising his arm up. Suddenly, in the blink of an eye, it turned into a steel blade. The three women's eyes widened. They watched as he lowered his arm and pointed it at the three.
