The snowy weather outside mirrored Jonathan Harker's turbulent emotions, lacking in color and warmth. He sat almost motionless inside his private office connected to the bedchamber, slowly drumming his fingers against the dark, smooth mahogany table and his eyes were on the letter he had been reading more than once since it was delivered.

It felt heavy within, his chest was crushing against this unseen weight of ugly mess and never made Jonathan loosen up or relax himself.

A beautiful, vivacious woman with long cinnamon-brown hair and eyes came inside, garbed in a lavish dress that only enhanced her features more. She stood out in the quiet, tense, and bleak office. "The girls are already in their study session, it should not last later than the afternoon, we will have time for you to meet with the new group"

Jonathan lifted his gaze from the letter and stared up at his significant other. Charming his wife was, not the beguiling type but pure innocence and angelic that their daughters took from him. While they all inherited his hair color each one bore huge fragments of Mina. He stood up and went forward, pulling her in an embrace.

He needed this, something right now to keep him on the ground and for his sanity meter to not plummet down.

Mina's gaze softened, returning the amorous gesture and she wrapped her arms around her husband's neck. "What did they say?" She caressed the back of Jonathan's head, and by her question, she meant the letter.

"A caravan traveling from the Enchants Country visited two days ago to make acquaintances with everyone at the North–this royal family was quite known for not being biased towards other races including humans," Jonathan muttered.

His wife nodded in understanding, it was no secret that the majority of Enchant Country's inhabitants were not hostile towards their neighboring countries. Humans were not simply treated as lowly servants, meals, or amusements. "Yes, it was such a grand occasion they did not miss to make an announcement. What happened?"

"I wished they did not go here anymore. They were found killed most brutally–all the faes part of that caravan are drained of their blood and some body pieces are also missing." The black-haired lord of the estate slightly pulled away to see his wife's face, his arms remained around her body. "There was a message left, carved intentionally on the back of the fae prince..." His tone was laced with seriousness. "Turn the azure into pools of ruddy waves, their flesh and lives be sacrificed to the great of the greats. Her resurrection is approaching, glory to the goddess above all"

To show proof, Jonathan took a small photo that came with the letter–there showed how the lengthy statement was tried hard to fit within the poor lifeless fae prince, his translucent dragonfly wings were torn off.

This made Mina take a step back, her heart quickly beating rapidly. She turned away briefly, her hands also turned shaky and cold. "No...it can't be"

They had a heater inside the room but it suddenly wasn't just warm enough to counter the surge of icy fear that spread from Mina's spine up to her nape. She leaned onto the table, balancing herself, and closed her eyes. She exhaled deeply, trying to even her breathing.

Jonathan pressed his lips together in a thin line, he too was feeling forbode but it was taken over by the protective urge that sprang up within him after seeing his wife shaken.

"Mina, look at me" He stepped forward, taking her hand from the table and placing it on his chest. Those steely blue eyes were unwavering. "Nothing about this news is great but we lived in a country governed by vampires, in a district where humans' existence barely means a thing but we are here thriving." Jonathan stated this firmly, "We are proof that not all humans living in this district are fated to be inferior. We are not and this news is not going to stop me from providing an oasis for my family."
