Ancient Sia.
Evangeline heard them mentioned that name followed by delighted praises and promises they were looking forward to get. She was forced into a long white dress, it was despicable because the dress was too plain and those women who looked like they inhaled ecstasy took away her expensive garb to elsewhere. After making her wear this ugly dress, they put her in a long silver platter and now she was stuck at the very front, displayed as the main meal.
She tried asking for help, yelling at the people inside this...mausoleum decorated to appear as a ballroom venue but no one made a move to help, they taunted her and those eyes were glazed with malice.
Except for one.
"What made you the most special sacrifice?" There was no hint of mockery in the question, just plain curiosity. He was apathetic, those hooded pale-pale blue eyes held no spark. His hair was soft, white and silvery at the tips.
It brought an underlying annoyance in Evangeline because he reminded her of Deus for a bit. "I do not know, you tell me" She scoffed, dripping with sarcasm. Is that a branding on his neck? Strange. She thought, noticing the scarring symbol this guy had.
He did not react negatively, he seemed too numb to feel anything. "Ancient Sia wants beauty and flesh the most. She enjoys destroying others so she can take their beauty away and patch it to hers"
Evangeline scoffed, "Why is she ugly?" Yes she was near the death's door, there was no ally or saving presence in this damned place but her tongue could never be nipped.
The stranger stared at her in mild surprise, slowly those lips finally curved into a small yet genuine amused smile and brought some spark in his eyes. "You are not far from the truth, our Ancient's appearance is beyond anyone's average understanding level that it brings horror and make them alienated to her." He paused for seconds, memorizing Evangeline's features. "Your beauty must be more than just surface"
Was Evangeline supposed to feel glad at this stranger's last statement? No but she couldn't shake off that strange warmth amid all this monstrosity about to take place. "What's your name?"
"Tragicomedy Feather but my siblings call me Tragic for short"
"I don't know whether to laugh or be mad, don't you feel upset at how ridiculous your name sounds?"
"Ironic actually, a life I am put into is filled with degradation and misery, I'm the joke"
A hand gripped Tragicomedy, quickly pulling him away from where Evangeline laid as a huge feast offering. To his surprise it was Vox-Angel who brought him at the far edge of the mausoleum. He didn't look pleased. "Do you want the mutated spawns to gnaw on our backs?! You must not confide with the sacrifice!" He tightened his grip on his sibling's wrist.
Tragicomedy narrowed those pale blue orbs, pulling away. "I am not confiding with anything to her, brother. It is a small talk, would she punish us for something so trivial too?"
"She is a jealous goddess, I only do not want you to get in harm's way"
The statement made Tragicomedy furrow his eyebrows although his expression remained unchanged—a blank visage. "And she is the one we will put in the mouth of danger, does her life truly guarantee what we want in exchange? Ancient Sia never plays fair"
Vox-Angel had a grim look, he didn't utter a word because he agreed with their youngest sibling. If they really meant to her then why was she playing favorites with the Slayers now on her top list of getting rewarded? The Slayers inside roaming the mausoleum no longer felt ordinary, they weren't humans anymore. Ancient Sia gave them a part of herself.
