A beautiful clear blue sky backdrop with just the right warmth to make strolling outside feel nice, within the gray-white fortified walls stood a world of its own, in the Harker abode, smiles and laughter were part of regular days. Being human felt safe. It was the oasis in a land that reveled in darkness, sinful temptation, and fangs grazing against skins.
As Mina's last arrow pierced through her opponent, it triggered the explosion–blazing hot licks of fire crawled rapidly and a booming sound came from within. Once a grand palace where princesses dwelled slowly crumbled, everything that the Lady and Lord Harker put effort into in building was devoured by the flames–the expensive furniture, drapes, displays, pictures, and all the rooms.
Camus felt the subtle quaking of the ground above them and his lips compressed into a thin line at the sold conclusion for this. "Carry on, young misses, we will be out of this soon" He did not mention anything about the explosion. Mina's last arrow was coated with a high-grade mixture that escape would be impossible.
"Look at my shoes! It's caked in soil!" Evangeline commented on the side, face contorted with worry while looking at her shoes–it was newly bought but now they appeared worn out and dirty.
Alanis exhaled softly, gently nudging her younger sister to quicken her pace. "Evie, that should be your least of concern right now"
The underground passage was warm, stuffy, and not that large for crowds to move in.
"Hehe, checkmate" Jared emerged ahead of the sisters and their attendant, compared to his beaten appearance recently, the young Slayer was vibrant with this strange candid glow lining his eyes, and on top of that–his bruises, and wounds were gone.
Ariadne blinked multiple times, puzzled. "J-Jared...?"
The young, exuberant Slayer cackled and felt an oozing satisfaction. "In flesh and more handsome than before, Ari!" Jared exclaimed haughtily, his lips curled into a smirk. "Second life feels better..." Even his complexion turned paler with a tinge of blue.
Camus darted forward in a defensive stance in front of the Harker sisters. "How are you alive and well?!" He felt annoyed.
"Still want me to state the damn obvious?" Jared grinned deviously, he continued standing in their way, taking his time. "You and I are the same now..." Then his eyes momentarily slid and shifted on Holly. "Hello, filthy liar"
His remark got Alanis' hackles up and she glared daggers at the vermin before them. "Take that back, have you gone too awful blind to notice you are the one filthy here?"
Duckie lets out a quack, slightly flapping its wings and moving closer to Arabella's legs as it senses the threatening aura seeping from Jared.
"Maybe I should scoop your eyeballs out for being blindly devoted to your corrupted sister?" The triumphant smile and manic glint were not lost in Jared's eyes.
Camus gritted his teeth and stepped forward, he could feel the change in his eyes–his vision somewhat tainted with red just as the drum of anger in his system became louder. "Whatever freaky acts you have in mind will not come to fruition"
"I'm scared" Arabella whimpered, hiding behind the tall blonde attendant.
Holly placed a hand on Camus' shoulder, "Camus..."
"I wish we had more time to spend, Holly" Camus smiled, it reached his eyes and also one filled with sadness. He touched her hand, squeezing it.
Evangeline raised a brow, this was a grave situation they were in but she couldn't help her curiosity. She turned to Alanis who seemed unfazed by the sudden show of closeness between the two. "Am I missing something?"
