The waiter leads us to a table in a dark secluded corner of the restaurant. When Victor notices us he gets up and shakes Ryders hand and goes to give me a hug. I'm taken aback slightly but allow the hug "how is my favorite fireball?" I look at Ryder who just shrugs and then back at Victor and smile "I'm well how are you Victor?" He smiles and gestures for us to sit down "I am quite well now let's get to business by the way Rae I thought you might like to have this back" he says and pulls out my knife from the other night. I smile and take my knife back "thank you I appreciate it" I put my knife in the hidden pocket of my belt.
The meeting was rather pleasant and before I knew it the meeting was over and we were saying our goodbyes until tomorrow night's gala. When we get back to the car I make a comment "you and Victor seem to get along quite well how long have you been allies?" Ryder stares at me for a minute "since my parents died he was the first to offer me his support and I know I can trust him to help me if i ever need help" he replies but doesn't stop staring at me and I send him a questioning look. "What did Victor mean when he called you his favorite fireball?" He ask sternly. I shrug my shoulders "honestly I'm not sure the only time we've really talked was after the incident at the club he said he liked how I handled things for someone my age and I told him it was nothing I just didn't like people pissing off my boss and he said and I quote "I like you Rae full of fire"" I said. Ryder continued to look at me "Deans gonna be pissed Victor never even acknowledges him and you got a hug and a nickname" he tells me and I laugh. "Hmm should I be mean?" I ask and Ryder looks confused "how so?" he replies and I quickly conference call Dean and Reese and put it on speaker. "Hey Rae what's up?" Dean says when he answers the phone. "Not much I just wanted your opinion on something" I say and side eye Ryder "sure thing what is it?" Dean says and Reese chimes in "yeah what is it?" I take a deep breath and pretend to be confused "well we just had a meeting with Victor and is it normal for him to give people nicknames?" I say and Reese and Dean at the same time say "what do you mean?" I try not to laugh and respond "well when we got to the meeting he shook Ryder's hand then hugged me and called me a Fireball" Dean shouted "WHAT THE FUCK?!?! In 6 years he has barely even acknowledged I was there!!" Reese laughs "what did you do to get him to like you?" I shrug my shoulders and smile "all I did was stab someone for pissing off Ryder and Victor told me he liked me" I say innocently which pisses off Dean even more and Ryder starts laughing "sorry bro looks like you've got competition" he says and Reese says "i don't know Dean I wouldn't piss her off if I were you she was scary I watched the footage from the club" I slam on the brakes "what the hell?" I say suddenly not finding this very funny. "Yeah here I just sent it to the group it's pretty intimidating no wonder Victor likes you" I look at Ryder who sees the concern on my face "alright guys we gotta go" and ends the call. He puts his hand on my thigh "are you okay?" I nod "yeah I just didn't think about there being recorded evidence" Ryder lightly chuckles "we have cameras everywhere but it will never be used against you besides it's a good thing that you are seen as intimidating" I smile and nod "thank you" I say and continue driving to Adrian's.
When we get to Adrian's I grab everything we bought out of the trunk and head to the front door. Ryder knocks on the door and when Adrian answers his face goes from pissed off to full on laughter he shakes his head and points down the hall. I head down the hall and holler out "Chelsea" moments later I hear a door open and out walks Chelsea looking like a pregnant supermodel. When she sees me she tries to help me carry the baby items to the nursery. We laugh and talk about the baby and how excited she is. After over an hour of talking about the baby Chelsea says "You really didn't have to get all of this we only just met" and I shrug "I wanted to!" I say and smile "besides we're friends now and that's what friends do." Chelsea pulls me in for a hug and when she pulls back she looks at me seriously "so since we're friends" and grins "what's going on with you and Ryder?" I laugh unsure of what she means "what do you mean? He's my boss and we're on a business trip" I say in response and Chelsea gets up and closes the door behind her. "I understand he is your boss and the reason you both are here but what is going on between you two? The way you act together doesn't look like a boss/employee relationship" I look at Chelsea and think for a minute "he's my boss and my job is to protect him and do as he says" I sigh "that being said I can't help it but I've developed feelings for him but my job comes first and it will always come first." I glance around the room and back at Chelsea "we've gotten closer during this trip and I've opened up to him about things I've never told anyone about and we've become friends I trust him but I can promise you I will never let how I feel get in the way of protecting him at the end of the day he is my boss and my job is to protect him at all costs" I tell Chelsea and she looks at me and shakes her head "I can tell he cares for you and he's different with you it would be great if this could work out but in our world I wouldn't get my hopes up Rae" I smile "thanks Chelsea".
"So the Gala is tomorrow have you picked a dress yet?" Chelsea asks me and I smile "yes I picked a black dress" I reply and Chelsea stands up "that will look beautiful with your Purple wig" I pause "how do you know it's a wig?" I ask skeptical. Chelsea laughs "oh please Rae I'm a woman and former model I can spot a wig a mile away" I take a deep breath "don't worry I'm not an enemy we're on the same side" she rummages through a drawer and comes back with a beautiful pair of dangly diamond earrings "these should look perfect with your dress and hair for the gala" I hold the earrings in my hand "thank you Chelsea I promise I will keep them safe" Chelsea sits back down beside me "keep them they're yours now, and next time go a shade or 2 darker purple it will really make your eyes pop" I chuckle "I will keep that in mind thank you" Adrian and Ryder open the door and Ryder says it's time to go. I get up and hug Chelsea goodbye and we leave.
