**Next morning…**

Mahni woke up, took a bath, and prayed Fajr. She then changed into a simple lehenga and dupatta, covering her head. She didn’t even wear earrings. As she stepped out of the room, she was surprised to find some clothes in front of her door.

"W- who left these here?" Mahni asked.

"Ma’am, actually, Sir asked you to wash these clothes for him, as well as his bedsheet, which you made dirty by sitting on it yesterday," Halima said.

"Okay, I’ll do it, but I’m hungry. Can I have some breakfast?" Mahni asked.

"Well… Sir said you’re not allowed to eat any food from his kitchen," Halima said, pointing at a stove. "He said to take this to your room. You will be cooking your own food from now on."

"B-but I… Thank you. I’ll wash the clothes then," Mahni said.

Mahni went to wash the clothes, sweep the garden, water the flowers, and wash Hafeez’s cars as ordered. After finishing, she went back to her room, used the stove with a lot of effort, and made chawal (rice), daal (lentil curry), and roti. She ate her meal and kept the remaining food for dinner. After praying Dhuhr, she freshened up and went out to clean the dining table. Hafeez had come back home early and had eaten lunch. Just as she finished cleaning, Hafeez called her from upstairs.

"Mahni, get ready. My mum is inviting you to dinner," Hafeez said.

"O-okay," Mahni said, her lips and hands shaking. "I’ll get changed."

Mahni went to her room and wore a beautiful blue sharara with a choli and dupatta. She applied a little lip gloss and put on simple earrings. When she headed outside, she saw that Hafeez wasn’t there; instead, the driver arrived and told her:

"Sir is in the car. He said you should take a rickshaw. He can’t go with you," the driver said and left.

"This isn’t fair," Mahni said, heading outside to find a rickshaw. After searching for almost 30 minutes and having her legs become red, she finally found a rickshaw. The driver took her to the house. When she arrived, she was struck by how big it was. As she was about to step inside, Hafeez stopped her.

"Go through the backyard. A maid can enter through the normal door," Hafeez said.

"B-but, fine," Mahni said, a lone tear falling from her eye.

"No, dear, come in. Don’t mind him. Come inside," Mrs. Ramsha said.

"It’s okay, Aunty. I’ll use the back door," Mahni said. She was about to go when Ramsha came to the door, took her hand, and brought her inside, leading her to Mr. Akhtar.

"Akhtar, here is Mahnoor, your daughter-in-law. Isn’t she beautiful?" Ramsha said.

"Of course she’s pretty. My dear, God bless you. Don’t worry, feel free. We won’t hurt you. We’re like family," Akhtar said.

"Thank you, Uncle," Mahni said.

"Bhabhi, why are you calling my Paa 'Uncle'? Please call him Paa. He’s your father, and Maa is your mother," a young girl said.

"O-oh, okay. Paa and Maa, Assalamualaikum," Mahni said.

"Bhabhi, let me introduce everyone to you. Come," the girl said, holding Mahni’s hand.

"Madina, can you please stop calling her 'Bhabhi'? She’s Mahni, my new slave," Hafeez said.

Those words pierced Mahni’s heart. She started crying and was about to go outside but stopped and looked Hafeez in the eye.

"I’m nobody, right? Then why don’t you divorce me and let me go back to my parents’ house? At least they care for me, and I’m someone in front of them," Mahni said, tears streaming down her face. She ran out of the house and sat in front of the door, crying heavily.

Meanwhile, inside the house, Ramsha spoke to Hafeez with an angry tone, saying that what he did today should never be repeated. She then followed Mahni and saw her lying on the ground, crying.

"Mahni, come on, stand up," Ramsha said, holding her hand.

"Aunty, tell me, am I not someone? Am I just trash? I remember now. No wonder Hafeez’s grandpa used his wealth to buy me for his so-called son. If not for that monster, my grandfather would still be alive today. My mom wouldn’t have lost her younger sister," Mahni cried heavily on Ramsha’s shoulder.

"Shhh, look, you’re my daughter. I don’t care if no one else accepts you as their daughter-in-law or sister. I accept you as my daughter. I promise you, now wipe your tears and come with me. Everyone is waiting at the dining table," Ramsha said.

She wiped Mahni’s tears and brought her back into the house. She asked Madina to take Mahni upstairs to any restroom so she could rinse her face with water. Once Mahni was done, she came out of the restroom and asked Madina to help adjust her anklet. Sadia then came in.

"Bhabhi, right? Madina, this is our cute Bhabhi," Sadia said.

Mahni quickly covered her hair and looked down. "Who are you?" Mahni asked.

"Oh, come on, Bhabhi. I’m Sadia. I forgot to introduce myself. I apologize. Anyway, I’m Sadia Akhtar, Bhai’s younger sister—actually, his blood younger sister," Sadia said.

"Oh, I’m Mahnoor," Mahni said.

"Nice to meet you. How old are you?" Sadia asked.

"I’m 20. And you?" Mahni asked.

"What?! You’re 20? Wait, does Bhai know your age? This marriage has an 8-year age gap. How will you cope? Anyway, Bhai is tough," Sadia said.
