I want a child...

Aizawa stretched in his bed, feeling rested after a hard week. He'd spent the whole week working a deep cover case that had led to the ending of an Omega traffic ring. He had never been happier to return home to his own Omega mate and snuggle his blond.

Yamada had happily greeted his alpha at the door with chirps and purrs. He had spent the week worrying about Aizawa but had pampered him nearly to death once he had him home. He'd insisted on bathing him, feeding him, and smothering him in as much of his scent as he could.

Yamada trotted into their bedroom with a tray as soon as he heard Aizawa's contented groan.  "Good morning, my alpha! I have breakfast for you."

Aizawa sat up, smiling. "What has my pretty omega made me?"

"All your favorites," Yamada announced happily as he carefully set the tray on Aizawa's lap. "Black coffee, steamed rice, miso soup, and a rolled omelet with all veggies."

Aizawa nuzzled his neck, kissing their mating mark before turning to the tray. "Thank you, love. But what's the occasion with such a spread?'

Yamada chewed his lip. He should have known Aizawa was going to ask so quickly. "I've been thinking... a lot."

Aizawa began to eat, saying nothing as whatever this seemed to be hard for his husband.  He just watched his mate's face, curious as he made content, happy sounds with each bite of food.   Yamada puffed up momentarily to the silent praise, but his eyes stayed locked on where his fingers toyed with the edge of their bedspread.

"I know what we do is dangerous, and all..." Yamada continued.

"It is," Aizawa agreed, still using his breakfast to hide his smirk.  He now had a guess where this was going.

"And I know our hours are hell..." Yamada continued.

"They are," Aizawa agreed between bites.   Oh this was fun.

"But...iwantapupwithyou," Yamada said, mumbling the last few words.  His fingers tugged on the bedspread even as his shoulders tensed.

Aizawa smiled into his cup of coffee. He'd never tell his nervous mate, but the signs had been there for months. He had noticed the freshly painted spare room...the not so sneakily bought baby clothes... the stuffed animals tucked in their closet.

"Okay," Aizawa said as he continued to eat.  He saw his mate's hands freeze out of the corner of his eye.

Yamada perked up. "Really! I mean... are you sure?"

"Sure of a pup with you?  Of course, my love," Aizawa laughed.  "Besides it isn't like our life is going to get any slower or less dangerous unless we retire from our currently most important job."

Yamada frowned.  "Currently?  Sho, are you thinking of leaving hero work?"

Aizawa smiled, taking one of his hands.  "No, not yet.   But I say currently because once we have a pup...being a parent will be my most important job."

Yamada made the happiest little chirp as he leaned in for a kiss.   "I love you!   I should start looking."

"I've been doing some of that, my love," Aizawa smiled, offering up his phone.   "I hit a really slow point in the investigation and did some searching.   I've ruled out a lot of adoption agencies."

Yamada's face fell.   "Why?"

Aizawa took his hand gently.   "I've ruled them out based on searches I've done and policies they have.   Most of them maintain that biological parents can come back for pups for up to three years."

Yamada looked pained.  "But...how is that fair to anyone?"

Aizawa pulled him close, mindful of the tray.   "Shhhh, love.   It isn't and that's why I am not going to put us in that position.   There are some surrogates and some orphanages."

Yamada was silent as he leaned into Aizawa's side.   "Let's...go to the orphanage.   I mean it seems more fitting for us."

Aizawa smiled, nuzzling his mate's head.   He understood - they were both orphans themselves.  He, himself, had been taken in by Nedzu when he was just entering high school.   Yamada had aged out of the system.

"Okay," Aizawa said softly.  "So here's the orphanages that I've found that seem like they have some good reviews, reasonable legal fees, and a range of ages of pups that need homes."

Yamada glanced at his mate.   He was surprised by that.   Every time prior that they'd discussed, both had always said they wanted an infant pup.   But that statement made it seem different.

"Sho?" Yamada said as he sat up.   "That...sounds like you're open to older pups.  You sure about that?"

Aizawa sighed.   He opened his photo app and showed Yamada a small collection of children they had found.   "Newly presented omegas.   They were grooming them to be bought.  According to Tsukauchi, they're all orphans or those left on the street.   It broke my heart to see a child so terrified of those coming to help them."

"Poor babies," Yamada cooed.   "Did you get them some place safe?"

"Yeah," Aizawa assured.   "I was left to help with them because I went damn near feral on one of the guys they were arresting.   So..."

"Papa bear," Yamada teased, kissing his chin.   He then stole his phone and began to look over the places, humming happily as he let Aizawa finish his food.

"When did you want me to set up?" The dark haired man asked, one arm wrapped loosely around his mate's shoulders.

"As soon as possible," Yamada muttered.   "I like this place.   They have just about every age.   And based on your research, once it's finalized whoever we choose will be ours permanently."

Aizawa nodded, kissing the top of his head.  "I'll give them a call when I'm done with your beautiful breakfast."

His mate smiled, kissed him, then hurried off to clean the kitchen.   Aizawa smiled as he heard his husband start to sing, happily, his quirk carrying his voice throughout the house.  The man shook his head and hit the call button for the orphanage.    In a matter of moments, he had an appointment set for that afternoon and he was quite happy.
