In Any Lifetime I'll Find You

Chapter 2

A new season came, the two ethereal vampires decided to move away from Bible's country to another.

For safekeeping of their secret. Upon arriving, the new place was very beautiful full of greens and mountains. They came across an abandoned house with big yard. Almost perfect to live in despite few things need to be fixed. Excluded from neighbourhood, which is perfect for their kind who prefer to have less contact with humans.

One time while roaming through the city, they came across a wedding located at the beautiful blue lake. Bible's eyes soften when he look at the couple. His heart yearn for something he pushed away. Jeff moves closer to hold Bible's hand, squeezing it lightly. Bible look at Jeff and give reassuring smile at him. Jeff return back the smile, rubbing his thumb on Bible's hand affectionately.

He recalled the time when human Bible wants to marry him. Sitting on a field, surrounded by daisies with soft breeze playing with their locks. Two couple talked about their future. It's impossible he would forget that. Even the bond they have now, was it good enough for Bible he wondered.

Being a vampire, when you exchange bloods with your loved one you would created a blood bond. Unseen bond that ties their heart, blood and soul together. Only known to them, cannot be seen, feel or touch by others.

With 7 years together, Bible never showed sign of wanting to tie the knot like humans does. Holding this soft hand in his, it feel  empty. He want to give something that can be seen, a ring that is. Should he make the move?

A loud applause snap himself out from his thought. He noticed the married pair had shared kiss and the guests were cheering for them. “Oh, you're back” Jeff huh him “You didn't hear what I said?” Bible tilted his head towards him. A head shake is what he got in return. “No, sorry...What were you saying?”. Bible bite his lip suppressing his laugh because the blood bond shared everything about what Jeff thought to him.

“I said I want a portrait of us together” Bible point his finger towards an artist on the street. His eyes follow to where his lover point his finger to. Sitting at the pavement, a talented old man focuses on capturing the scenery and painting it into the canvas. From a far he could see all the displayed works behind him and it is aesthetic. “Sure, love” Jeff move his head forward to give a quick kiss on Bible's lips. Making up for ignoring his love.

They both went to the artist to get a portrait. The man was awe at the present of the most handsome pair he had ever seen. He welcomed them excitedly and prepare the tools he needed.

Bible and Jeff sat beside each other, hands interlock and they waited until its finishes. “You look great together why no rings?” the man asked behind wooden board stand his hands waltzing through the paper to sketch out the couples.

Jeff gave a surprise look unconsciously squeeze the hand he’s holding.  Bible laughed “Soon, Mister soon..Hopefully" he winked while patting Jeff's arm, calming him down.

Once finished, the man hold out the complete piece for them to see. It look surreal and it worth to be frame which exactly what Bible want to do.  “Thank you, Mister. We love it!!". Jeff was about to pay but the man lift his hands up saying it's free consider it as a gift. Jeff nodded as the artist packed their portrait.

Bible nudged Jeff on his sides, signalling him that he want to go to his favourite place, flower shop. Jeff's eyes follow Bible until he's out from his sight. The man smile at the adoring acts from Jeff “Ahum! Here you go” he hand out a rolled paper tied with ribbon to Jeff. “Oh, thank you. Um, can I ask is there a place that do custom made rings?”.

The artist recommend one place he should go, few meters away from here. Jeff nodded and he was about to leave but the man pat his shoulder “I wish you both happiness and love that lasted forever, boy".
