As the gumbo warms their tongues, the four misfits expresses their gratitude to Lou and her family for the delightful meal, a warm exchange that fills the room with a shared camaraderie.
"Aw, you're welcome!" Lou beams excitedly. "I'm so glad that all of you love my gumbo!"
"Yeah," Benji chuckles. "The dish was spicy, but thanks to the sour cream you and Soleil recommended, Casper and I could hardly eat another bite."
"Yeah," Casper agrees, rising from his chair. "Also, we appreciate the hush puppies."
Nodding enthusiastically, Lou claps her hands together and announces, "Alright, how about all of you get some rest? We'll clean up from here."
Soleil stretches her arms and bobs her head. As much as she wants to help Nadia's family, the witch awaits her meeting with the St. George family tomorrow morning. The anticipation of the day's events fills her with excitement.
Waddling towards his master, Ichabod slowly licks his paws and jumps into Soleil's arms. He squirms until Soleil runs her hand across Ichabod's back.
"Hey, Crane," the witch chuckles. "Looks like you can't eat another bite, too, huh?"
"Yeah." Ichabod huffs.
Soleil slowly lifts him off his chair and looks deep into his eyes. "Come on, how about you apologize to Nadia and her family?"
Ichabod's gaze softens. He looks at Ethan, who is clearing the tables, and says he'll apologize if Soleil attempts to see her dysfunctional family again.
Soleil's face turns ghostly pale. Her nails dig into Ichabod's skin as she protests, "I'm not going to talk to them, Crane. I thought I told you that, like, thirty times."
"Can you, for once, let bygones be bygones?"
"Why are you painting my family as saints? They're nothing but frauds and liars."
"Come on, Sol. Please, talk to them."
Soleil swears under her breath and reluctantly obeys Ichabod's command.
"Alright, fine," the witch grunts. "I'll talk to my shitty parents and siblings."
"Okay-" said Ichabod.
"But as soon as we get back to New York," she vows softly. "I'll never do it again. Okay?"
Ichabod's expression softens. He rubs his paw against her shoulder and asks, "Why do you hate your family so much?"
"I don't hate Audrey, okay?" Soleil snaps. "I love her, and I'd rather put my money in her account than give it to any of those fucking leeches."
"I just want you to apologize to Nadia's family."
The cat hops out of Soleil's arms and then enters the kitchen. After bidding everyone good night, Benji heads upstairs while Casper and Nadia are busy talking on the other side of the table.
