Cyno's POV

I walked into Tighnari's base, uncertain if he was busy tending to patients or not, but I felt the need to visit him regardless. The entrance was like a tent opening, adorned with yellow flowers and green leaves on the side. As I entered, I carefully pushed aside the vine leaves draping at the entrance.

"Tighnari? Are you here?" I called, glancing around the familiar and comforting space.

"Cyno! I was wondering when you'd show up," came the friendly voice, tinged with excitement and endearment. Tighnari appeared, his fluffy tail wagging despite his attempts to seem indifferent and casual about my visit. He called out from one of the medical tables, his usual focus interrupted by the sound of my voice. Medical tools were scattered around the table, evidence that he had just dismissed his last patient for the day. As I approached him, he set the tools aside, pausing his work to focus on me. A tiny smile appeared on his face.

"To what do I owe this unexpected visit?" he asked, but he didn't really need to. The reason was obvious just by looking at me, the answer written all over my slightly messy appearance and anxious body language.

Tighnari squinted, his gaze shifting from my face to my body. He must have noticed my tired gait and the lines etched in my face. There were dark circles under my eyes, and my hair was more disheveled than usual. It was the whole package, it seemed.

His smile slowly faded at the sight of me, tension replacing his usual calm demeanor.

"What's wrong?" he then asked, his concern evident in the subtle flick of his ears and the tightening of his posture.

"Ah, nothing really," I replied, trying to reassure him despite not knowing what was wrong myself. I forced a gentle smile, one that felt weak and insincere.

"It's just that," I began, walking over to the medical table. I hoisted myself up on the table, sitting upright with my legs dangling off the edge as I looked at Tighnari. "You're not busy, are you?"

Tighnari chuckled softly. "You know me, I'm always busy. But for you, I can spare a moment or two," he replied, his tone playful but his eyes still filled with concern.

He stepped closer, his perceptive gaze scanning my appearance and noting the bags under my eyes and my disheveled state.

"Think you can give me a quick checkup?" I finally asked. There was nothing more to my visit; I just felt off and needed my trusted friend's help.

His expression softened immediately. "I'd be delighted to."

I nodded, offering a tiny smile. It was generous of him to clear his schedule for me.

Tighnari, however, saw through my attempt to mask my weakness. He knew me too well, knew I often refused to acknowledge my own limits. He saw through the facade.

"Not feeling like yourself, huh? Let's see what's going on," Tighnari said, his tone growing serious.

He approached the medical table, standing in front of me as he carefully reached out his hand, keeping his movements slow and controlled to avoid startling me. His fingers brushed a few loose strands of hair away from my face before he gently placed his hand on my forehead to take my temperature.
