I knew better than to turn and look, but I did. One of the soldiers had a syringe of something and they were closing in fast. My heart raced and I pushed my legs faster. I ran up the walk of Monarch Nine and breathlessly hit the close button for the door. I ran up to the controls and took my seat in Ian's chair. I looked for the main air lock button and hit it just as the soldiers reached the door. I breathed a sigh of relief when they were no longer able to open the doors.

Macy, what is going on? Midnight pranced toward me and jumped into the seat to my right.

"Nothing, but you might want to get strapped in somewhere. I'm going to fly this thing out of here." I turned the ship on and looked at the hologram and typed in the coordinates I wanted. It was easy after watching Ian do it several times. "Now, Midnight," I spat at him. He hissed at me in return then jumped from the seat and left.

"Macy. Open the ship's door," a man's voice sounded over the ship's radio. I touched the receiver button.

"No," I said, then released it. I knew I was being petulant, but I didn't care.

"Queen Lovia, you are not granted permission to take that ship," the same voice repeated.

Again, I hit the button. "I am the queen and you will not stop me. Now shut up!" I yelled. I took the controls and made the ship move forward. I tried several times to activate the bay hatch so I could leave but was unsuccessful.

"Macy?" Sophia's calm serene voice came across the radio. "Please, my dear. Land the ship and turn it off. You cannot open the doors to leave, anyway."

I ignored her plea and got up, went to the back of the control room, and opened a compartment. I was guessing no one knew that I knew where the emergency open button for the main bay was. I hit it and they couldn't close it in time to stop me. I headed for Earth.

"Macy, you must come back. You do not know how to fly that ship and if you reenter the Earth's atmosphere at the wrong angle, you'll die," the male voice came over the radio more annoyed this time.

I ignored him. Huh, I thought to myself, they didn't think I would know how to do that. I entered the correct number for the entry position and within a minute, I was through the atmosphere. I cloaked the ship and headed to the Colorado Base. I could tell I was somewhere over South America, so I headed north. The ship was so fast that we were at the coordinates within ten minutes. I dressed myself in combat boots, black pants, and a tank top with a multi pocketed vest. I was lucky the ship had its own gear supplies in case of emergencies, so I loaded up. Most of the stuff I didn't know how to use, but I was resourceful. I would figure it out.

"Midnight!" I shouted as I finished packing my pockets.

Yes? He sounded annoyed.

"I need you to hit the transport button."

No, he said sassily.

"Midnight ..." My voice slightly raised in warning.

Midnight sighed. Fine

"Okay, I will have this earpiece in my ear so I can hear you on the ground. I need you to keep an eye on the map and tell me if I am near anyone. Our guys will be the white dots."

We moved to the controls so I could show him what I was talking about. I pointed, "See here? The enemy is the red dots. Like here," I pointed to another spot on the holographic map then back to solid controls. "Now, this button here will allow you to transport me down and back up if I need you to get me out of there in a hurry. And this button is to talk to me. Okay? Got it?"
