"I will not tolerate being held captive like this." I spoke louder than I should have, but I was trying to contain my anger the best I could. Plus, I really wanted to get my point across loud and clear.
General Grant called a meeting with all the higher ups, like I asked. Now we all sat around a circular table, all ten of us, in an eerie white room.
I however, stood up to speak. "If you want me to be your queen then I will do things my own way. If not, then I don't want it."
Several murmured conversations began, and I took my seat again with my arms crossed across my chest.
General Grant, who sat to my right, stood up. "Macy, you have to be at least somewhat reasonable. We only want to protect you, keep you safe." He gestured out with his hands to include everyone in the room.
I stared my future father in-law in the eyes (that was if they got Ian back alive). "This is me being reasonable, General Grant." My frustration was seething through my tone. "I cannot just sit around doing nothing."
They wanted me to be all prim and proper while sitting around doing nothing. That wasn't me, I had to do something, especially now that Ian was in trouble. I had to get him back. As my mind wondered off thinking about Ian, the assembly continued to discuss things amongst themselves. I knew I was not going to waver on my part, and they would have to realize that.
"Macy, please," Sophia begged. She was seated on my left side. I looked into her kind eyes and didn't need to say anything. She must have seen the resolve in my eyes, because all she did was nod after a few seconds.
"Will you train, so that way you will be better prepared for whenever you decide to go into dangerous situations?" a man with all white hair asked. He still looked young compared to some of his counterparts in the room.
"Yes, but not until Ian is back safely. I cannot wait around training while he is out there being tortured." I pounded a fist on the table.
Many sighs erupted then. They were frustrated with me, but I didn't care.
"We have teams going in for Ian as we speak. We have faith in them that their mission will be successful," General Grant said next.
"And if it isn't?" I retorted.
"Then we will reevaluate the situation," he said somberly.
I shot straight up, anger clear across my face. "He's your son and will be your king one day, and without him you will not have a queen!" I yelled this time.
Many shocked faces looked to me with their mouths agape.
"Macy," General Grant called, "we will do everything we can."
I had enough with him and his assembly, so I stormed out of the room.
Tieck and March tried to herd me back to my room, but I yelled at them to leave me alone and ran off. I wasn't running anywhere in particular, I just wanted to go somewhere where no one had to watch me. Where no one had to follow me. I sighed. I wanted to go home, back to Earth. But I knew that wasn't home anymore, because Ian wouldn't be there.
I found a room that was used as a utility closet and sunk to the floor in the corner, holding my knees to my chest and crying my heart out. I couldn't stand the helpless empty feeling I had. I was sure the whole ship was looking for me by now, but I didn't care.
I had fallen asleep in the closet for a few hours. I found some light green overalls and slid them on. Very baggy, but they at least hid my clothing that would definitely give me away. Then I snagged a tan scarf from a shelf of cleaning products and put it over my hair. I didn't know what I was going to do, but I needed to get to Melody. I would be caught then, because the guards would notice me. I had to think, orchestrate some type of plan, but my mind wouldn't function while worrying about Ian.
