The mid-day shift was moving along very slowly. Like always, Scar was tired, and working the cookie shop alone got boring after a few hours. The shop used to be his grandmother. She opened it when she was a young woman. When Scar was younger, though, he loved to help bake and help run the shop. She passed a while back and left the shop to her grandson, who kept it open in her name.
"Hello?" a voice stated, forcing Scar to snap back to reality. The short young man who stood in front of him had golden brown hair and dark grey eyes that would appear black to anyone who didn't look right at them directly.
"Oh, sorry about that. Welcome to The Elven Bakery. What can I do for you?"
"It's fine. I saw the help wanted sign outside, and I would like to know some more info about the job."
"Ah, okay. Well, I'm not sure how much you know about the shop, but this place is over 50 years old and was handed down to me by my grandmother." Scar stated proudly. "But with this shop growing a lot in popularity over the years I can't run it by myself anymore. I need another person to help me run the shop."
The short man pondered for a moment before asking, "How much help do you need exactly?"
"Well, I have to cook all the cookies, decorate them, and sell them," Scar said with a little dread in his voice.
"And you do this all by yourself?" the man said in a concerned voice.
"Yeah, which is why I'm looking for some extra help," Scar said. The two boys locked eyes for a moment.
"Well, if you would have me, I'd love to help out." The shorter one stated.
"Alright, just one question before I allow you to help out. What is your name?" Scar said happily.
"You can call me Grian."
