Lavi and Lin were both assigned to the same mission. This meant they could spend more time together as the others would barge in on them. They patrolled the city and found akuma. They battled endlessly and freed every soul they could. Once that was over, they collected the innocence. An akuma came up behind Lavi and Lin thrust herself between them, resulting in her being stabbed in the stomach. The akuma was freed and Lavi turned to see his love dying.
Her magic couldn't save her now. Lavi began to cry. Lin reached out to touch his face, wiped a tear from his cheek and smiled at him. "I love you." Lin said. "Promise me one thing. Don't bring me back. No matter how much it hurts, don't." Lavi kissed her and she gave him her innocence. It was different from the others somehow. He just didn't know how. She smiled at him and died in his arms.
He took the body back to the order. They held a funeral for her under the blossom tree. Standing over her coffin were Allen, Leenalee, Rene, Komui and Lavi. Rene stroked her wolf mystique. Lavi handed over Lin's innocence. Everyone said goodbye. Little did they know she could hear every word.
Lin put a small part of herself into the trees that she healed. She started to come together so she could see Lavi. But she isn't strong enough to touch him and get his attention. He left the others and found a place to sleep. Lin followed him and touched his forehead. She entered his dream and talked to him. "Lavi, if you need me, I will be in the garden. Go to the tree and you will see me. I will hear you. If you want to talk to me or you really miss me come and see me. I love you." She left his mind and went back to the garden. Lavi woke up and ran down to the garden. He saw Lin and hugged her tight. Lin and Lavi let each other go and then sat under the cherry blossom tree, falling asleep as the last flower opened.
