Dreams - Fleetwood Mac

"I mean holy shit y/n, fifth year, we're almost out of this place!" Archie gasped as they looked through their schedules in the Great Hall.

"Sometimes I hate this place, Arch, but sometimes I love it. It's home, frankly."

"You're disgusting, y/n," Severus said in a dull tone.

"You know you love me Sev!" Y/n put on the fakest lovey dovey tone she could.

"Shut up. I'm going to the common room. It's too crowded here."

"Always so emotional, see you Sevvy!"
"See you later, Severus!" Archie bid him farewell.

Severus grew more and more distant over the years, but not in the normal way. Just mentally, he wasn't always there. Always stuck in another world, or stuck thinking about his best friend and obsessive crush on her. Lily Evans.

Y/n found Severus as one of her closest friends, before the distancing begun. Severus always told it to her straight, and she'd do the same for him.

"I get what you're saying though, y/n/n, I wish we had homes to go back to that would accept us."

"It's okay though, my little Finch!" Archie scoffed at her nickname, but y/n continued, "One day, when we're older, we'll live together, until you find yourself a man and I find myself a partner, and then they can't deal with the two of us being around each other because we are a force too strong for any man and then we can't live together- you know what? Never mind, let's stick together forever."

She wrapped her arm around his shoulder, shaking her head.

Little Finch was a nick name y/n came up for Archie ages ago. Finch, a bird, a little one. She gave it to him a month into their friendship. It was ironic due to the fact that Archie was 5'10, a solid foot taller than y/n. She just liked to hold over the fact that she was born on April 7 and he was born on May 9 making her older. Seeing her arm around Archie was a funny sight because of the reach.

"Oh quit it, you can hardly reach me y/n!" He shoved her arm off of him and instead wrapped his arm around her.

A cold voice spat, "This is why everyone thinks you two are together."

"Oh finally! There you are Reg!" Y/n hummed happily as she spotted him.

"As if you were looking."

"Come on you know we've always got our eye out for you." Archie winked.

"Yeah yeah, whatever you guys. Look y/n we've got double potions together!" Regulus exclaimed, the coldness leaving his voice as he joined his friends. "Is Severus in it as well? Why do I even ask, of course he is."
Y/n nodded sarcastically in a 'you should know better' sort of manner.

"You advanced git, they didn't let me take double potions a year early! Clearly the Black name has more hold than Gray," uttered y/n sarcastically, shaking her head and tutting.

The trio had sat down and began breakfast.

"I don't see why you don't have the same pull as the Black family, you've been practically engaged to Regulus ever since his parents started ignoring-"

Y/n grimaced at Archie and kicked his leg under the table.

The topic of Sirius hurt y/n but she could stand talking about it from time to time at least. Her hurt couldn't compare to Regulus', the topic of Sirius was unapproachable around him. He'd just shut down or walk away.

Unless he started the topic, of course. It was confusing, but y/n respected it.

Sirius didn't go home often. Spent most holidays at the Potters, at least that's what Regulus knew. Sirius went to their home during summers as little as possible. Y/n wished she had that option. She visits Archie from time to time but his house isn't the greatest either, and they're all muggles. Sirius was forced to make appearances at the dreaded gatherings alongside Regulus and y/n. None of them really enjoyed it.
