chapter song:
Welcome Home, Son - Radical FaceEuphemia and Fleamont opted for muggle transportation, driving them to the grand Potter mansion. The estate stood majestically against the wintry backdrop, its windows glowing warmly as if beckoning them inside. It was a large house for sure, yet it seemed so cozy and quaint.
James, ever the host, led y/n through the front doors with a flourish. James led her through the front doors with the excitement of a child showing off his favorite toy. "Welcome to our humble abode," he announced, spreading his arms wide as if presenting a palace.
Y/n couldn't help but be impressed as James guided her through the grand foyer, where a roaring fire crackled in the hearth. "It's beautiful," she murmured, taking in the intricate tapestries and family portraits that adorned the walls.
Effie Potter walked with them in the hallway, her smile radiant and welcoming. "James, dear, why don't you show y/n around while I finish these cookies?" she suggested, nodding towards the kitchen.
James eagerly seized the opportunity, leading
y/n through the corridors and into the heart of the Potter household. They passed through the cozy kitchen, where the scent of freshly baked bread mingled with the warmth of the fire."This is where Mum works her magic," James explained proudly, gesturing towards Effie, who was bustling around the kitchen with practiced ease.
They ventured into the living room, where festive decorations adorned every corner. Holiday wreaths hung on the walls, and a towering Christmas tree sparkled with lights and ornaments. Family photos captured moments of joy and laughter, reflecting the warmth of the Potter family.
"This is where we gather for Christmas Eve," James shared, pointing out a particularly old photograph of himself and his friends, laughing under the tree. "It's a tradition to exchange gifts here."
Y/n's fingers traced over Sirius' young face. It was second year, and it was the first time Sirius had not shown up for the Black, Gray and Malfoy family gathering.
Outside, the backyard garden beckoned with its tranquility. Y/n noticed the subtle fragrance of her Amortentia mingling with the crisp winter air. "I always loved this garden," James admitted quietly. "It feels like home."
"Your garden is lovely," she remarked, turning to James with a smile.
James grinned, his eyes lighting up with pride. "It's dad's pride and joy," he admitted. "He spends hours out here, especially during the summer. I love gardening with him. We play quidditch here sometimes, too."
A personal mini quidditch pitch nestled in a corner caught y/n's eye. "You've got your own Quidditch pitch?" she asked, impressed.
James grinned. "It's where we practice sometimes. Sirius is always trying to beat me," he teased, nudging her playfully.
Their tour continued upstairs to James's room, where Effie used her wand to transfigure the space to accommodate all five Marauders comfortably. Extra couches and cushions appeared in James' large room. "Make yourselves at home, kids," she said warmly before leaving them to settle in.

Later that evening, the kitchen became a hub of activity as they gathered to bake cookies. Effie had left them with a batch of dough and instructions, trusting them to carry on the tradition.
Peter, eager to contribute, rolled out the dough with enthusiasm. "I used to bake with my mum all the time," he shared, his eyes bright with nostalgia. "This brings back memories."
Remus nodded in agreement, expertly shaping the cookies with precise movements. "I always thought baking soothes the soul," he remarked with a smile.
Peter, gazing out of the kitchen window, suddenly interrupted their chatter. "Looks like it's getting stormy out there," he observed, squinting at the darkening sky. "Perfect weather for our us to take our animagus potions tomorrow, don't you think?"
