The quidditch pitch was buzzing with activity as the Gryffindor and Slytherin teams arrived for their scheduled practice. James Potter, along with the rest of the Gryffindor team, was in high spirits, ready for a rigorous session. However, their mood quickly shifted when they saw the Slytherin team already occupying the field.

"What are they doing here?" Sirius Black muttered, his eyes narrowing at the sight of the green-robed players.

James shrugged, but his heart skipped a beat when he saw y/n among them. He hadn't seen her much since their night in the astronomy tower a few days ago, and the sight of her in her Quidditch gear, looking determined and fierce, sweat gathering at her forehead, made his pulse quicken. He had never seen Lily Evans the way he is currently seeing Y/n Gray.

'How can a person be this gorgeous?'

Frank Longbottom, the Gryffindor captain, stepped forward, his brows furrowed. "Emma, what's going on? We booked the pitch for today."

Emma Vanity, the Slytherin captain, crossed her arms, her expression just as confused. "So did we, Frank. There must have been a mix-up."

The two captains got along more than any pair of Gryffindor and Slytherin captains ever would.

The tension between the two teams was palpable. Players from both sides were muttering and casting glares at each other.

Regulus and y/n stood off to the side with Evan and Barty, receiving nasty looks from Sirius. The three Slytherin boys did not waste time and returned those looks tenfold. James caught y/n's eye and she gave a small smile and a wave. James returned the favor, his cheeks pink. He would blame it on the October chill. Sirius whacked James' arm.

'Damn, Archie was right. That boy is quite hot in his gear.'

Finally, Emma sighed, running a hand through her hair. "Alright, look. We can either waste time arguing or make the best of it. How about a scrimmage? It'll be good practice for everyone."

Frank hesitated, but then nodded. "Fine. A scrimmage it is. Gryffindors, let's show them what we've got."

The players took to the air, the animosity between the two houses temporarily put aside in favor of competition. James caught y/n's eye and grinned, feeling a thrill of excitement.

As the game progressed, it became clear that both teams were evenly matched. Frank Longbottom and Emma Vanity were both skilled keepers, blocking goal after goal. Marlene McKinnon and Regulus Black were neck and neck, each determined to catch the Snitch.

The other two Slytherin chasers, Evan and Barty, and the other two Gryffindor chasers, Alice Fortescue and Marcus Wood, competed thoroughly but could not match the fierceness of y/n and James.

James and y/n found themselves repeatedly clashing mid-air, their competitive spirits driving them to push harder. At one point, James managed to steal the quaffle from y/n with a cheeky grin.

"Better luck next time, Gray!" he called out, speeding away.

Y/n rolled her eyes but couldn't help but smile. "You wish, Potter!"

From the stands, Remus Lupin and Peter Pettigrew watched the action unfold, their eyes following the fast-paced movements of their friends.

"This is intense," Remus commented, shielding his eyes from the sun as he watched Sirius skillfully deflect a bludger aimed at James.

Peter nodded, munching on an apple. "Yeah, and look at James and y/n. They're really going at it."

Nearby, Archie was also observing the match, a smirk on his face. "Go, Y/n! Show them what you've got!"
