O Children - Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds

Platform 9 and 3/4. In other words, first step towards home.

"Mum please just let me go, I don't even need to be in my uniform yet, I can change on the train!" Y/n cried out as her mothered fastened her gray tie, awaiting its colors.

Celine Gray was a stickler for neatness, amongst many other things.

"Changing on the train is for commoners and mudbloods y/n. You know that," asserted y/n's mother, with one last tug at her tie.

Y/n's eyes rolled while her back was turned to her mother.
"Look at Sirius! Walburga isn't dressing up him!" Y/n whined, "and atleast Orion is here! Why can't my father be here! It's my first day at Hogwarts!"

Regret.
A word, no, a feeling, y/n knew too well.

She felt her mother's boney hand tighten around her wrist and it made her writhe.

"You do not compare me to other parents, you do not refer to Mr. And Mrs. Black by their first names, you do not smart mouth me, you do not whine, and you CERTAINLY do not speak ill of your father," Celine spat. This attracted attention, leading y/n's mother to subsequently plaster on a fake motherly smile.
"Besides, your father has very important things to attend to at the ministry, sweetheart. I think it's time you board the train, get a good compartment towards the back." Celine kissed her daughter on the forehead. "Go on dear, go with Sirius!"

Y/n walked away, muttering curses of disgust for her mother.

"Hello Mr. and Mrs. Black," stated Y/n politely, receiving a cold smile from Walburga. Typical. Orion gave a wave, and a warmer smile.
"Ready to go then, Sirius?"
"I sure am y/n, let's get out of here!" Sirius then uttered, "They're speaking loads of bloody rubbish, your mother too I assume."
Y/n didn't need to do more than give Sirius a look to confirm his suspicions. And he got it. Because that's how they were. Y/n and Sirius always got each other.

Remember that. It will mean something later on.

"Write to me please, Siri, pleaseeee! Please write me as well y/n!" The younger Black cried out from behind their father's legs.

"I told you I'd write you, you git, stop calling me Siri!" Sirius had turned a shade of pink. "Let's go y/n."

Sirius of course didn't leave Regulus without a hug. Because that's who they are. Brothers with an unbroken love. That's who they were.

"Bye Reggie! I'll write you too of course, just remember you'll be here with us in just a year!" Y/n exclaimed as Sirius dragged her towards the train.

"Bye y/n! I'll miss you!"
The ten year old waved to the two as they sped away.

Later on in life, Sirius would remember this moment.

Remember it and wish he stopped.

Stopped and waved back.

Ran back for another hug.

Never let go.

Never-

Let's not get ahead of ourselves. There's a million things Sirius wish he could've done. Every second you spend contemplating something adds another possibility of how things could have gone. Or is it should have gone? See what I mean?
