Chapter ROCK BOTTOM

BEGIN RECORDING: TALON

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Silence in the tears

The helicopter ride was nothing short of depressing, the pilot weaves between the buildings to reach the sea and all they could hear was the crying from the back of the helicopter. Another casualty to this hellish war that everyone wanted to leave and never come back to but for some they get taken away without their permission, they wanted to keep fighting, not end up in a casket like the rest of the dead that had lost it all in this war.

Let it be soldiers or family, all of them knew the toll of war and it wasn't good, even the pilot knew what it was like losing comrades but they were just another part in the complex failing machine that was the Combined Forces that have been wrought with nothing but pain and agony from the Ferri and within. But to have someone kill their own comrades and change sides to support the same monsters who took so much from this world already.

They are still crying....even with the helmet on they could hear the cries behind them with the other pilot looking into the main area to see the same sad scene that they had seen when they reached the area. 9 was cradling her sister crying for her name while 45 was looking out of the window with a bandage that covers half of her face but it was not enough to stop the tears from coming out. No matter what anyone told her she is blaming herself for it.

There was nothing the pilots could say or do to keep some morale that was sitting on a life line in this instance. All they could do is make sure that the girls got back to the base in one piece as one of the people come out of the back to the cockpit with her blue gloves and combat helmet. They were not covered in blood after swapping out for some fresh ones but the face the girl made had kept the mood low in the cockpit but she gave some motivating words.

"It's alright you guys did what you could"

"Jen you and the rest of us know it is never good to lose a comrade", "I know but it's the reality of war and it's something that even I can't get a grip on....have you made the call back to base?". The silence from the two pilots was deafening and a clear indication that the two had in fact not done that since what could they say? If they went on the comms and confirmed the death of Ump 40 what good would that do to people?

The Griffin building was burned by M16 along with 40 dying to M16, one of the pilots in frustration slams the side of the console to the surprise of the two who try to calm him down. "It's not right...why are the girls and the rest turning on each other? we can't keep doing this, any more this army is done for". "Stop your whining and get it together, we are still alive and that's all that counts alright!".

The other pilot slammed the other side of the console till a hand could be felt on both of the shoulders of the pilots. It wasn't tight but it was a firm grip that had unsettled them with a scary aura behind them. Jen looked at them with a disappointed face and exhaled "Both of you that's enough... we don't need to be arguing about this, this army is fine alright and command knows what to do".

But do they? Is something that Jen was beginning to question herself as well that even the pilots could only look at her with a look that was telling her that she was being a hypocrite and that she should also chip into the conversation. They were lucky that Sector V was still together thanks to Matthews unwavering attention and care to the squad but it was still walking on egg shells with the rest of the army.

Azur Lane was in shambles with a lot of injury, damaged ships and some girls thinking of abandoning the factions entirely and just giving up. Jen just couldn't believe how the forces have fallen this far and it looked like Perri and the rest just didn't care what was happening as long as they were still alive then it shouldn't matter what happens... no that can't be right... if that was the case the forces would of fell years ago.
