Minho doesn't really love doing cardio or work-out in general, maybe he should have spent a little more time on the treadmill. It's not like he doesn't run often, but as stays has pointed out several times, he's more used to fake-walking. He... prefers to waddle, instead of running properly. Maybe it's just a childhood habit when he lets his arms fall limp on his sides and walks on the points of his feet, projecting his upper body more in front of him than he probably should. Yes, he's a professional dancer, but don't be too annoying now, okay? He danced "I'm worth it" back in 2017 with all the other really straight-dudes, thinking that pulling off one of the straps off his shoulder was the sexiest thing he could ever muster, let him breathe. He's not sure what's the point he's trying to make, but he's a little more out of breath than he thought, anyway- He didn't need to run, nobody is running after him. If anything, he's the one running after Bang Chan. That traitor.
He's now thinking deeply about all the things that got on his nerves that night, to distract himself from the pain in his chest and the white dots playing in front of his eyes, leaning on the wall just a corner before the ballroom. He can't risk having Alice see him all sweaty and red. Not in this circumstance, at least.
So firstly, he's tired. The jet lag is killing him, he took all the caffeine he could ingest, but it could help until a certain point. So, he's tired, that's for sure. And he was nervous, obviously, the VMAs are no joke, so he was nervous, and he released all of that just 10 minutes ago. He was already internally freaking out on his own, thank you very much. Then he realized that Chan was perfectly aware that she would have been there that night, and he didn't say anything. And then, just after he had at least calmed down and was about to talk about it with Chan and ask for explanation, Jisung bursted inside the room, babblering about him getting Alice's number and Changbin being the only one mentioned by her and them flirting with each other, and then- AND THEN, he finds out that Chan had a plan on getting to her, to talk to her, alone. He just bolted away like a fucking kangaroo—kangaroos don't run, Minho—and disappeared. He has every right to be angry.
He feels betrayed, played with, and left behind. What's this shit? He should be the one to get her number and talk to her. Why are they acting like that? Jisung- fuck, he had rarely liked someone, and he decided right now to have a crush??? On a girl - yeah, that was actually a little frustrating, sue him—and a girl that is his exact copy? Why just not him? He would not have been so fixed on her if Jisung hadn't said all that shit about soulmates and hitting.
And Bang Christopher Chan. That traitor. He's worse than a traitor. That day Jisung introduced them to Alice's content, he was the one that said that they should ignore it, that it was no good risking being disappointed. And then he found out he'd been following her all this time, watching her lives and now- AND NOW—he just planned to meet her without telling anyone.
He needs a plan, he thought, walking to the ballroom once he regained enough energy and air to move. If he had already approached her, he could easily enter into their conversation. He'll make up an excuse to make Chan leave them alone—maybe something about their manager asking for him. He could pretend that one of the kids is sick, and he needs to check on them. He can come up with something. Being charming, witty and mysterious. He can do that.
But what if Chan hadn't found her yet? If Minho will have to approach Alice on his own? And also... the talking part! He's quite good if he's in a good mood, but what if he couldn't even introduce himself? He's not that bad, but... he's also nervous. Minho's eyes moves around the room, scanning people up and down. Some people tried to lock eyes with him, but he's definitely not up to being distracted. He's looking for a dark-haired girl with a red dress, how hard could it be? A lot. So he tried to look for Chan's figure; finding him, he would find her, right? But even Chan is nowhere to be seen. Is this the right room? The map said this was the place. How is it that he couldn't find both of them? Are they together? AND WHERE? Alone???
