Y/N
SIX YEARS AGO.
"Yuu-nii, you're hurt again!" I exclaimed in disbelief as I rushed to my older brother, Yuuto or Yuu-nii, who was admitted to the hospital. I just learned from Grandma Chiyo that he was involved in a motorcycle accident.
My brother was equally surprised to see me standing by the doorframe of his room. "Y/N? What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be having a piano lesson today?"
"The teacher is sick." I walked over to his bed and put the basket of fruits I brought on the bedside table. "Grandma told me what happened when I came looking for you at the cafe shop. She said you had a motor accident and got admitted to the hospital. Why didn't you tell me?"
Yuu-nii exerted a heavy sigh and scratched his bandaged head. "I told Grandma not to tell you about this," he groaned in a low voice. "Look, Y/N. I just did not want you to worry about me. It's nothing serious. It's only a few broken bones and some stitches. The doctor said I'll be fine in a couple of days."
My (e/c) eyes wandered to the sling on his left arm and the elastic bandage wrapped around his head. There were also bruises on his face. I pursed my lips and frowned seeing how bad his injuries were. "You're clearly not, Yuu-niichan!" I retorted and huffed. "Hmph! You're a bad liar too! You obviously lied to Grandma! You did not have an accident! You got your injuries in a gang fight!"
Yuu-nii was taken aback in a rather comical way and winced at my accusing words as if he got caught red-handed. "H-how on earth did you know that, sis? Did someone snitch on me? Tell me, is it Waka?"
I crossed my arms over my chest and glared at him fiercely. He did not even tend to deny that he tried to accuse one of his friends in the gang. "No one told me. It's because I'm not stupid. I could tell by just a mere glance that those bruises of yours came from the fight, not an accident," I surmised, examining his injuries carefully. "You may deceive Grandma Chiyo, but you can't fool your sister. Maybe you should try a different approach."
My brother let out a resigned chuckle and ruffled my (h/c) hair. "I guess I couldn't really lie to you, huh? As expected from my cute little bunny. You caught your brother." He smiled weakly, however, his bruised face revealed a guilt-ridden expression as he tried to explain his side of the story. "I got into a huge fight with some guys from the opposing gang. I know it's my fault for being reckless. But I couldn't just stand by and let those bas--I mean our enemies keep messing with our turf."
I scoffed. "Still, you ended up getting injured." I sat down on the chair next to his bed, shaking my head. "You're so stupid, Onii-chan."
Yuu-nii pretended to appear hurt as I blamed him for his stupidity. "Hey, that's mean, Y/N! I'm older than you!"
