Aanya's POV
I went in the neighborhood to talk to them and get some information as to why the house is in such a bad condition and where are Kavya's parents. I walked towards this one house that was the closest to Kavya's house. The house was not locked from outside but was not open either. I knocked on the door but didn't get any response. I knocked again but still didn't receive any response.
I decided to go to another house, just then the door opened and a girl, about 10 year old, opened the door. "Hie cutie" I said to her sweetly with a smile but she looked scared. "What happened dear? Why do you look scared?" I asked her but she moved behind the door. I looked inside the house and it looked in a not so good condition.
The furniture was broken, just like Kavya's house. "Where are your parents dear?" I asked her crouching down to her level. "I.. I.." She stuttered. "Calm down dear, I won't do anything. okay?" I assured her to which she nodded. "Now tell me, where are your parents and... what happened inside?" I asked her calmly. "That day..... Those... those bad people....they came and took my didi away.... Mumma and papa.... they went with kavya didi's mumma papa... I..." She started crying.
I hugged her and decided to take her to our hotel. "Calm down cutie pie...don't cry. I'm here na..I'll find your parents, okay?" I assured her while rubbing her back. We went back to Vineet. "Vineet!" I called him. "Yes penguin?" He replied but didn't look up from the pieces of papers he was looking at.
"Call me that once again and I'll throw this kid on your face." I said controlling my inner urge to just smash his handsome face with a big rock. Dumb Idiot.
"Wait- kid?!" And the king finally looked up. "Yes, kid. She was alone in the house a little away from this one and the condition of that house is no different than this one." I explained him while petting the kids hair. "Hey kiddo!" As soon as Vineet looked at her she quickly hid behind my legs. Looks like she's very scared.
"Hey! I mean no harm." Vineet said coming near but the kid just clutched my legs even tighter. "Can you stay away, she's scared of you." I said to him. "Alright!" He said raising his hands in a surrendered manner.
"Yes, now tell me did you find anything?" I asked him cooing the little girl. She looks very scared and traumatized. Maybe if I take her to Kavya, she'll be a little happy. "No. Everything is broken. I did find these papers. They look like a contract or something. It has legal language so I want you to examine these for me." He said handing me the papers. "Okay, I'll look into these. Now let's go in the village and see if we something related to her parents." I said.
Me, Vineet and Shikha, the little girl, went into the village. Now Shikha was comfortable enough with me. She kept talking about things she liked. However, she was scared of Vineet. "Didi! You know there will be a function tomorrow in the village. Everyone in the village will go to attend that." She said and I looked at Vineet. "Let's go there then, okay shikha?" I asked her gently.
"But I always go to that function with my maa, papa and didi." She said in a low voice. "This time you go with us. What say?" I asked her enthusiastically. She giggled and threw her hands in air yelling a big yay. I smiled looking at her. She's too cute and innocent. She said she had a didi. Is she also a victim of this human trafficking?
If this is true then I need to find her. "We will go to that function and try looking for clues. Don't worry, we'll find them all." Vineet assured me as if he just read my mind. He put his hand on the small of my back and we had an eye contact. I miss him. I really do. Hopefully, this case is the last one I solve with him, I can't afford to break my heart again.
Vineet's POV
We went deeper into the village and saw a bunch of ladies buying vegetables. Aanya and I decided to approach them. "Ummm... Hiee ladiess!" I say and all the ladies look at me, some even gave me weird side eyes. "Are you a fvcking idiot?!!!" Aanya scolded me. What wrong did I say to be scolded like that?
"Namaste aunty, we are here for investigation. Do you perhaps know what happened to Kavya and her family and also, the family that lived beside them?" Aanya asked them politely. "How do we know you are not lying about the investigation part?" One of the aunties asked. The village has definitely developed a lot.
Aanya pulled out her id and showed to those aunties. I sighed and pulled out my id and showed them. "Now if you please tell us what all you know." I said being irritated. Something about Indian aunties just irritates me so much. Maybe it's just their existence.
"Well, they were very innocent. Kavya and her family......."
IMPORTANT
Hey all!
I know the chapter is shorter than usual but this is because y'all have not completed the target that I gave on the previous chapter. *Sigh* But I'm still going to put a target for this chapter too. I want at least 5 comments on this chapter and 10 votes. If the target is not completed yet again, then the next chapter might be even shorter.
Guys! I never wanted to do this. But no encouragement on chapters that I write putting so many efforts, makes me highly demotivated and discouraged. I get views on my chapters but there are no votes and comments. Please y'all, do interact with chapters and do vote and comment for next chapter. I promise, If the target on this chapter is completed, then I will post a bigger chapter next or might even post 2 chapters together. Just interact with chapters and provide me some motivation.
Yours Nyraa.
