Author's POV

"I called you in because I need you to do a work for me." The man said.

"What about swara?" The feminine voice asked. "She's just a pawn for us. My real player is you, my daughter." The man said smirking. "I want you to befriend Aanya and manipulate her into killing Vineet's father." The man said and laughed evil-ly, meanwhile Ahana stood there looking at her father, Mr. Madhav, the well-known criminal lawyer of the country, making plan of someone's death.

The feeling didn't set right with Ahana, but she loved her father more than anything in this world. So, she decided to obey her father. Yet one question lingered in her mind which she asked. "Dad, why do you want to kill him?"

To which Mr. Madhav replied, "Do you know why your mother died?" He asked her back to which she shook her head into a no. "Now that you've asked me this, let me tell you the whole story." He said taking a seat on the sofa and asking her to do the same.

"Vineet's father, I, and your mother, Radhika, studied in the same college. She fell in love with Vineet's father and I fell in love with her, despite knowing that she loved him. Soon, Vineet's father too confessed his feelings for her and I was genuinely happy for her. Life went by great and years passed with them being in a relationship." He said narrating.

"Didn't that hurt you pa?" Ahana asked her father. "It did but seeing her happy was my only wish and she was happy with him, not me so I accepted that. Years later, after we graduated I moved to California for further studies while they both stayed here and got married. I came back after 10 years and settled here, built my law firm business here. Everything was good, I never married. When one day I got a call from Radhika on my old phone that I had kept just in case she ever calls. She never called me in those 10 years. But she did that day.

She said he cheated on her. Land slipped of from my feet just by thinking about her state. She was crying and I could never hear her cry. I went to their house and had them talk it out. Vineet was four year old at that time. A small kid whom they had adopted. They both talked the things out and decided to get a divorce. They left each other and I took Radhika in. We stayed together until one night, Radhika got pregnant with you. It was an accident but we could not abort you and you were born with disabilities because your mother was in depression the whole while in pregnancy.

She didn't eat on time, didn't sleep and me being busy with office, I could not take care of her. She died while giving birth to you but accepted that too and gave you all of my love. I could not let you suffer when it was not at all your fault. It was his fault that Radhika died so it would only be fair if he died. But I want Vineet to feel the pain of losing someone close because he rejected you. I can burn the world for my daughter as she is my only family.

So I want you to manipulate Aanya, Vineet's girlfriend to kill Vineet's father. Only then will it be fair. Tell me my baby, you will do this for me right?" He completed and looked at Ahana like a psychopath desperate for justice by his way. Ahana was scared but instead nodded her head in a yes. "I will do it for you dad." Ahana said.

"Good girl, I raised you well." He said patting her head. Ahana then made her way out, she went back to her home and pulled out a beer bottle. She started missing her mom and soon like her dad, she started blaming Mr. Singhal for not having a mother's warmth and love. She felt that because of him, she never received a mother's love. She spent the night drinking away and here, Vineet and Aanya were cozy in each other's arms, unaware of what was coming their way.

Vineet's POV

I was with Aanya at her house. We had dinner and now we were cuddling in her bed. I snuggled her up as she fell asleep. Tomorrow I am meeting my dad. I don't really like our encounters but it's necessary. He's never been a father, a dad. He was always a businessman. Yet I still love him.

He is meeting me to talk about my future in his company. I don't want to work as a mere 9-5 person. I'm not going to accept his offer.

Next morning, I woke up with Aanya wrapped up in my arms. She snuggled closer to me when I moved to get out of the hold. I slowly reached out my hand for my phone which showed that it's still early.

So I stayed in the same position, her head on my right hand and her legs on my legs. Her hands, smaller compared to mine, couldn't even hug me completely. Her hands only covered 3/4th of my body. I wanted to laugh so bad but instead I smiled sweetly at her.

She slept for another hour and I was admiring her sleeping for an hour. She woke up but I didn't blink or look away. She looked at me and her cheeks turned pink. It's a rare sight and I love it.

"Good morning love" she said in her morning voice. "Good morning baby" I replied now playing with her fingers. We then got up after cuddling for a while and got dressed for the day. My finals were due soon and Aanya had hers right after mine so we were gonna be busy.

"Oh I forgot to tell you. I made friends." She said and I smiled. Since our relationship, it has been hard for her to make friends. "Good baby. Who are they?" I asked to make sure she had good people in her life. "Ahana and Swara." She said as if being friends with a snake is not a bad thing.

"Penguin, be careful alright?" I said to her and she laughed. "I will be don't worry. Now go you have class." She said and we went to the campus and parted ways.
