White light shimmered and snapped through your dorm room curtains, highlighting your shivering form under a soft black blanket. THe sharp jagged shards of lighting cracking through the sky, the sound crashing into your ears like metal on metal, tearing into your brain like knives. You clung to the blanket with white knuckled hands and shaky breaths. Your headphones tightly on your head weren't enough to cancel out the shrieking wind and sizzling lightning and booming thunder. You had shut your eyes and tried to focus on your breathing, attempting to keep away the tight feeling in the centre of your chest. The crawling tendrils of anxiety spiralling through your nervous system.

"Come on." You muttered to yourself, rocking gently back and fourth on your bed, "Come on, you can make it. You can make it."

However, your encouragements seemed to fall flat on your brain, as the small inklings of tears started to form in the corners of your eyes as another white flash and great crash of thunder rolled around in the sky above you, knocking a tree branch from out side right into your window with a bone chilling crunch.

You let out a scream and curled up defensively into a ball, covering your mouth with both your blanketed hands, It was just past 2AM, all your classmates would be asleep. You hoped you hadn't woken them up.

You shut your eyes again, squeezing your eyebrows tight together as you tried to will yourself to calm down. Try to will yourself to breathe. To stop squeezing your own chest so tight it felt like your ribs might crack.

But the noises became louder, and your breathing became faster. The blanket that you huddled yourself into started to become claustrophobic. It suddenly felt like a second skin stuck to your limbs, your pyjamas sticking as well from panic induced sweat. You wanted to peel the blanket off, the air around you started to feel used and warm, choking. Your head began to pound loudly, slamming against your skull as if trying to escape. Your ears ringing inside your headphones like a piercing alarm to your brain of how nightmarishly uncomfortable you felt. Your lungs heaved inside your chest, squeezing ever ounce of air in an out as fast as your heart could possibly pound out blood to your body.
