Chapter 18

After i challenged rin & he accepted it, i went back to the dorm to tell the guys about it. I told him what happened & how i challenged rin, although i kinda did that without even asking them first which i felt bad about.

"Ah.... sorry i didnt even to ask you guys if you wanted to..."

Nagi just threw a pillow at me when i said that which startled me, but i ended up catching it & setting it back down.

"Stop apologising yuki, that's what we were aiming for in the first place weren't we? we wanted to steal bachira back that's the whole reason we trained together & made it this far well.... aside from reaching the top & becoming the best strikers but you get what i'm trying to say, plus you don't always have to ask us first if you want to challenge someone. I mean sure i like challenging people too but we're friends now, so whatever you decide to do i'll follow & support you all the way like i always have been doing"

"Nagi....."

"Yea the match is confirmed anyways right?"

"I'm gonna.... crush them...."

"Yea i guess so"

The guys were already sitting down on the bed so i sat down too, the match begins in 20 hours so i just went over the plan with them. I use the mini board & marker to analyze & write down how i think that match up will go like.

"I think.... they'll probably use a formation like this... i'll cover rin from the center, chigiri will his speed to the right & nagi will take the left. Barou will go back here where he can devour any of the 3 in front, let's go with this formation"

"Works for me, so i'm up agaisnt that guy with the bangs?"

"And im.... covering that jubei aryu guy..."

"I'm on tokimitsu.... the super negative one"

"Yea if we win this game, we'll clear the second selection ground."

"And you'll get bachira back.... yuki"

"Not "Me" we, we will get bachira back nagi, that's what we trained for together"

"Yep"

"Let's give this everything we got then"

We put on our uniforms & eventually the match started, we headed to the field & prepared ourselves for the fight. As we were streching & warnming up Aryu suddenly walked over to us which caught us all by surprised, he walked over towards chigiri & got close to him grabbing a strain of his  hair.

"What the...?"

"Oh... his coming over yuki"

"Huh?"

"Hey Redhead"

"Yea?"

"What kind of conditioner do you use?"

"Huh.....? the one in the bathroom same as everyone else...."

"But you're cuticles are far to styl, that means you're hair as innate brilliance potential. In that case you must have natural styl"

"Hey.... don't touch the hair!!"

Chigiri smacked his hand away getting annoyed, i couldn't hep but snicker nagi just put his hand on his hip & leaned to the side a bit just watching them.

"Oh my apologies, it's just to beautiful & i'm obedient to style. I'm honored to fight someone as style as you, shake my hand. Let's have a good match hyoma chigiri"

"You've got a pretty old fashioned name for how you look, let's have a good match jubei"

Aryu just suddenly snapped or stressed out after chigiri told him that, he went on talking about how that name is not styl or whatever rambling on about it. And then started doing weird poses at chigiri, chigiri just freaked out when he did & leaned over to me.

"Hey yuki.... what's his deal!?! his acting weird!!"

"I Dunno.... this seems worse then before..."

"What a hassle......"

Tokimitsu tried to call him down or get him to stop to which aryu didn't seem to want to do.

"Uhh.... are these guys really that strong?"

"Yea.... they can play soccer at least...."

Suddenly barou yelled at them getting annoyed already.

"Will you shut the hell up!?! get in formation already.... Let's do this...."

"Ahhh!!! sorry!!! umm... i'm sorry but.... could we play another day?"

"Huh?"

"Aryu is like this... & i think i'd be better if we could play in full strength...."

"Rejected, now line up i'll end you"

Tokimitsu just started to freak out like he always does & ramble on about stupid stuff which seemed to anger & annoy barou even more when he did, he suddenly called out to me to tell me something.

"Hey yuki... we're changing the formation...."

"Huh?"

He suddenly grabbed tokimitsu by his shirt & yanked him.

"I'll take this pessimistic asshole!! who'd you say doesn't know about setbacks!?! huh!?!"

I just shrugged & turned to face nagi for a moment.

"Okay, are you cool with switching positions with barou then nagi?"

"Hmm....."

"Nagi...?"

Nagi suddenly brought his hand up to his mouth again before responding to me when i called out to him.

"Sorry yuki can i say something selfish?"

"What is it?"

"If i don't go with what's exciting... then leaving reo behind would have no meaning. I want.... to battle the number 1"

"Nagi...."

"I want.... to get even stronger.... i can't do that if i don't fight him"

"Okay but.... if you lose i'll crush him instead"

"Losing makes me fustrated so i don't think i will"

I couldn't help but chuckel at him, that just leaves me to face off with bachira then since everyone already picked someone they want to go up agaisnt.

"Okay then.... Let's go then bachira"

Bachira just looked at me & shuckled softly when i said that

"My little Monster....~ let's have a fun match then heheh~"

The moment has finally come, we finally get to go up agaisnt rin & his team. My goal here is to steal bachira back & give this everything i got, the match then finally started. Rin got the ball first, once the whistle blew & the match started rin passed the ball over to bachira, so i went to block him when he did. He started off with a max speed scissors & then tried a deep fake step into a switch, but i stayed right on him not letting him go through. I positioned myself while monitoring the field as well, but bachira noticed what i was doing too. Nagi wasn't that far behind me either so i think he instantly caught up to that as well, i couldn't help but chuckle softly.

"Try to get past me bachira"

"Oh? Heheh~"

He kicked the ball & just tried to pass through but from nagi's side instead of mines, it honestly caught me by surprise when he did that. But barou had immediately caught up to him & blocked him with me.

"Huh?"

Tokimitsu tried to quickly get to bachira to which i immediately noticed.

"Pass it to me bachira!! over here!! you can't beat barou in strength!!"

When bachira tried to pass it i quickly blocked his pass & stole the ball from them.

"Yuki!?"

"I'll be taking this"

"Gah, Dammit!! out of my way!!"

Barou quickly shoved bachira & ran up to me & nagi, bachira seemed surprised at what we just did.

"Guess there's no reading something like that the first time..."

"Gimme a floaty one yuki"

"I know, over there right? go nagi"

I quickly kicked the ball to which nagi ran & went to catch & receive it, he was coming up to match up with rin now but rin wasn't doing anything just yet & just watched him. 

"Hmm.... he really is a genius, making this tough for me..."

Nagi suddenly jumped in the air a bit & kicked the ball to the side instead sending it over, rin got surprised whe he did that.

"Can you feel it? it can only be here.... red panther"

"Perfect. I'll smash through"

Chigiri was the one to receive the ball but aryu caught up to him & so did rin.

"Such a styl pass"

But chigiri managed to break through the both of them & get pass them, he ran across the field with the ball & kicked it with his immense force scoring us a point, putting us at 0-1. The whistle blew loudly after he scored us a goal.

"Nice"

"Tch"

"Nice Chigiri"

Bachira had the look of excitment after seeing that, seems like  he was starting to get entertained now. .

"It's getting fun, my monster is rejoicing heheh~"

"Nagi & chigiri high fived each other & cheered

"All right!!"

"Nice shot princess"

"Nice work you 2, let's keep going"

"Yep, i'll follow you yuki"

"Alright"

We'll make ultra coordinated attacks using the fire-rapid combo from our chemical reactions, this is how we play soccer together. But this is jsut the beggining let's just see how it goes, the game resumes once more & the ball was passed over to bachira by rin. I once again was matched u p agaisnt him & had to try & block him.

"Let's go my little monster~ i won't let you have you're way like before~"

"So determined~"

He just shuckled & stuck his tongue out at me when i said that, he seemed to be enjoying himself. Barou caught up to me & bachira seemed to glance towards him for a moment keeping his gaze on him while still dribbling so swiftly & aryu suddenly charged from the side but chigiri was sticking close to him, barou suddenly charged at him which made him freeze for a split second & glance over to him.

"Bangs!!"

I quickly tried to steal the ball from him when barou distracted him but bachira quickly made a blind pass, he shuckled softly once more & stick his tongue out again.

"Gotta be faster little monster~"

"Get it aryu!!"

"Get infront of it!! take it princess!!"

Chigiri tried to get the ball but aryu cut him off & stole it instead.

"No way... a mid-air cut? those legs should be illega!!"

"Absurd airspace is my territory & i'll pass before you're speed can reach me"

Aryu quickly passed the ball over to tokimitsu before chigiri could even do anything.

"H-Here it comes!! i-i-i've got it!!!"

"No it's mine you boulder!!"

Barou quickly tackled him & was shoulder to shoulder with him.

"Ahh!! the scary gorilla man!!"

"Whose a gorilla!?!?"

Barou was having a really hard time pushing him away with his own strength, seems like he was alot stronger then him.

"No!! here!!"

He quickly passed it over to rin before barou could steal or take the ball back.

"Damn..."

But nagi quickly dashed forward & went towards him.

"No... i'm still here i won't let you shoot"

"Nagi!!"

Rin went towards nagi regardless of the fact that he was going to block him, to which nagi thought he was just going to force his shoot through him. But regardless of the fact that nagi was reading him perfectly, he did a shoot feint he made nagi think he was reading him to get him to charge forward. Rin was a step ahead.

"Not bad"

But with that time loss i could catch up, so i ran over to him & chigiri joined me not long after i did making it a 2 on 1.

"Nice cover yuki!! we'll box him in!!"

"Chigiri!!"

Unfortunately bachira caught up as well so now it was a 2 on 2, rin was analyzing all of it & made his move while still having the ball.

"He's planning to shoot between us!? his greedy!!"

"Wait! no chigiri!"

This one was a feint too so when chigiri tried to take it, rin quickly moved the ball & got past him. Running across the field once more, from the moment this became a 2 on 2 he hasn't given us a chance to think. Everyone on the field was playing right into rin's hand even if he doesn't create a chemical reaction, rin is a next level monster. Who can create infinite possibilities all by himself, i dashed towards him & tried to block him. After realising what he was doing, rin noticed it & started to move again.

"It appears you've learned... how to use you're eyes on the field, but such a tepid soccer doesn't move me in the slightest"

I tried to block him & steal the ball but rin got past me & kicked the ball with his immense force scoring his team a goal, now we were at 1-1. 

"How are we.... suppose to stop that guy?"

I wasn't able to stop him this time but i'm getting closer, last time i couldn't even figure out why we'd lost but now i can understand the meaning behin rin's movements. I can devour him, we can win. I need to think of a way to gain control of the field.

"N-Nice goal!!"

"I'll give that jumping shot... one styl star"

The guys took a break for a second & stood near me.

"Seriously....? i had no idea rin was that amazing.... how can we stop him?"

"Sorry, i couldn't even slow him down either how can we even make plays like that?. It's like his got some next level thought patterns"

"No i can explain how he got past us, the play earlier.... rin was positioning himself so he could receive the ball within his shot range, that's why we weren't able to do anything. Other then play right into his hand, predict multiple options in the field's future & get us to stop thinking. I think that's rin's basic approach"

"Damn.... i wonder if my OS can keep up with his mind..."

"No.... Yuki the fact that you could even explain rin's plan in an instant, means you're amazingly spec'd out"

"Ah...."

Well not exactly, i just like to analyze & study my opponents whenever i can, but doesn't seem like they can understand that right away. So i guess i'm the only one on this field who can follow rin's train of thoughts, so i'm probably the only one who can stop him. Barou suddenly screamed at us & got our attention.

"It's till just 1-1..... let's do this!!!!"

"Yea.... our attacks are working!!"

"Counter.... Attack... Start!!"

Nagi got the ball this time & quickly passed it over to chigiri, to which hre received & caught it when he did.

"Okay!!"

Chigiri was up agaisnt aryu once more, he was blocking him. We're starting our attack with chigiri on the right, since his up agaisnt aryu with his long reach he'll need to pass or break past him. But rin is already positioning himself to respond to whatever choice chigiri makes & bachira was trying to block me again. But that also means nagi can move freely, so bachira can't cover both me & nagi at the same time. So whil everyone is focused on nagi i'll use this moment, to slip into they're blind spots. So i went behind nagi passing him to an open area, chigiri noticed me & passed the ball to me, but before i could receive it rin came & blocked his pass it caught me by surprise when he did.

"Rin!?!"

He perfectly predicted where i would move, does that mean he figured out all of my moves? No i still got around nagi & bachira, so our image of the field has to be the same but rin is able to reach the point he predicted. One step faster then me i'm still one step short, barou & nagi quickly tried to block him & steal the ball back.

"Quit showing off kid"

"Not gonna happen"

But he suddenly quickly passed it to bachira before they could do anything.

"Oh! you passed to me rin!"

"Bring it up.... to the goal box"

"Yessir~"

Nagi & barou quickly went to block bachira but i told them to stop & get back because i knew it was just a counter attack, but i quickly caught up to bachira & tried to block him myself.

"That's not fair little monster~ let me join in too, so i can have more fun~"

Bachira quickly kicked the ball before i could steal it sending it flying.

"Surprise!!"

The goal is still over 60 meters away, it was a super long airborn pass that creeps up after hugging the ground. And the one he passed it to receive it was Aryu.

"That's a frighteningly clean vertical pass, it's beautiful."

But even so chigiri would catch up to him with his speed, to which he did & nagi caught up to the both of them as well too.

"I'll crush you, styl freak!!"

"I'm here too you know"

Nagi can compete with him for height & chigiri can get to where the ball lands before aryu, i thought the  pass wasn't going to work at all.

"Notice it.... that pass..... feel it's line not it's point"

But aryu suddenly jumped in mid-air to reach the ball, which caught us all by surprise when he did.

"His jumping already!?!"

"For real.....?"

Damn the top 3 used to fight as individuals but now, they've started coordinating they're attacks. This was aryu's & bachira's chemical reaction, with that high jump aryu was able to hit the ball with his head & score a point for his team putting us at 2-1. I thought we could win if we could just stop rin, but bachira's ideas are hastening his team's growth. They're really an amazing team.

"You have my thanks meguru bachira, you're passes will guide me to hitherto unseen levels of styl"

"Thanks"

The game restarts & nagi gets the ball this time, he holds it in his hand before setting it back down on the ground again. I walk up to him & stand next to him.

"Nagi.... we're gonna devour them"

"Yuki..."

"Let's devour & crush them"

"Yea"

The game starts & nagi passes the ball over to chigiri, to which he receives & catches it running across the field with it but once again aryu stands in his way.

"Here i go... again & again..."

"I'll stop you again & again"

Barou suddenly catches up to him but tokimitsu is right on him too, bachira was blocking me once more.

"Hey chigiri!!! pass to me!!"

"Wah!! i said no!!"

"Out of my way!!"

But i noticed nagi is already trying to set up a pass from chigiri, by using barou as bait while he moves around chigiri. His positioning himself for a direct shot that rin won't be able to touch, but rin sees that too. But nagi suddenly dashes forward faster then him & just breaks through all of them, which catches chigiri's attention.

"Nagi!!"

Chigiri quickly passes the ball to him when he notices nagi but rin catches up to him, the ball somehow manages to pass him though to which i quickly react & pass it back to him so he could get it.

"Perfect. Thanks Yuki"

Nagi receives the ball when i pass it but rin quickly tries to block him, nagi sees him & immediately maneuvers the ball away from him so he misses when he tries to steal it. He immediately kicks the ball with his immense force & scores us a point putting us at  2-2 now.

"Nice nagi!!"

Everyone cheered & high fived nagi, i jumped on his shoulders a bit & tackled him giggling softly, nagi just shuckles softly when i did. Even bachira seemed amazed by what we just did.

"Seems like they got you rin, are they still tepid?"

"Shut up bangs... i'm... annoyingly fired up..."

That's the first time we beat rin, nagi & i stand a chance agaisnt him. But if that's all then i'll never be able to beat the world's best striker, i want to beat rin on my own. Bachira suddenly smirks at us.

"I like it~ from now this'll be a a feast for the monsters"

If we want to beat rin just like before, we need to find a way to compete using abilities that exceed his own. As long as we can level the playing field, then using weapons that surpass him will be effective. But if i can't win agaisnt rin on my own i'll never be the world's best striker, i need to be one step faster. The game resumes once more & rin's team got the ball this time, rin quickly kicked it over to tokimitsu with his immense force. 

"Hey!! wait... where the scary gorilla guy is!?! please move!!"

"That's a bad ass pass, i'm gonna get there first!!"

But it landed infront of barou then went back to tokimitsu with it's back spin.

"Ah!! i can get it there..."

Tokimitsu suddenly shoulder charge barou pushing him back & making him stumble, by making tokimitsu hold the ball rin is able to freely move into the optimal position. When he noticed rinhe quickly pass it over & rin immediately kicked it when he did, doing a direct pass from his current position. Once again he was one step ahead of me, the ball was heading for aryu.

"Oh? that's different from meguru bachira's earlier creative pass... it's a pass ment to test my limits. There's only one choice, to stand & receive it!!"

Aryu suddenly jumped in the air & got the ball with his chest, before letting it drop to his feet again.

"That's amazing... but i've still caught you"

Chigiri tried to block him but aryu quickly passed it over back to rin before he could do anything, to which he received when he did.

"Nagi!!! block his shoot course!!"

"I'm going!!"

Nagi tried to block him but rin did a roulette on him, i then quickly caught up to him when he did & shoved him back with my hand.

"I saw through you rin"

"You're 2 steps to late"

The ball had suddenly dissapeared which caught me by surprise, but it turns out that he had passed it to bachira before i could even take it. He was using everyone as his marionettes that's how rin goes all out with his puppet master soccer & before we knew it bachira kicked the ball & scored yet another goal for his team putting us at 3-2 now, rin then suddenly glared at me.

"There's no way you can read me.... you're just a supporting character"

"Rin, you're a real saddist~"

We took a moment to catch our breaths before the game resumes.

"That's.... how rin goes all out huh? wether friend or foe he controls the entire field"

If i think about it, it was like that when we first played him. The essence of rin's playstyle, is to completely control his opponents thinking, but until now rin only used his own skills to do that. Now his using enemy & ally alike, to control the entire field. On top of that by seeing through all of our abilities & drawing out his team's maximum potential, he was able to drag all of us into his high level future. Technique tactical sense & physical abilitiy, he's only able to do this because he has all of those. Now i'm questioning wether i can devour a prodigy like him or not.

"He'll see right through it if we stick to lame plays.... at this rate all we can do is try to overcome rin's visualization"

"Yea but even knowing that.... turning it into a goal is a whole other matter, it'll be insanely difficult but if we can coordinate our weapons to the max....."

"We can break through..."

"Yea... let's go you guys"

That's our only shot & if that's not enough then that's when the king secretly began to bare his fangs, the game resumes once more with nagi having the ball. He passed it over to me when we started, i gotta read the field without a single mistake. I need to produce a chemical reaction from our full on attack, but i noticed rin & bachira suddenly changed they're deffense pattern. Rin is not infront & bachira is guarding the rear, then i guess i'll just have to gamble on his speed.

"Chigiri!!"

"...!!!!"

Chigiri received it but as always aryu caught up to him & was blocking him.

"This pattern again?"

"Shut it"
