I should probably stop staring, but I can't. His ocean blue eyes, his slightly curly hair and his pretty smile that puts his perfect teeth on display. I shouldn't be staring, I definitely shouldn't be allowing myself to think this way about him, my best friend. What can I do? The way his hoodie fits so perfectly on his lean shoulders and the way he's slouched back on his chair.
"Hey are you listening?" I snap out of my thought, I hope he didn't see me admiring him with a smile on my face.
"Yeah sorry I just zoned out, what'd you say?" I reply, and look into his glistening eyes.
"We were talking about that video game we played the other day, remember? You sucked at it." He said nonchalantly, like he usually does. I chuckle a little, both of us knowing that I had won most of the rounds but still not bursting his bubble. He smiles at me, oh how I love that smile. It makes my day quite honestly.
I blinked and suddenly it's time for lunch. The lunch today is mediocre like always but it's edible I guess? We're standing in line as I glance over at Alvin's plate while he's busy talking to Dani about something stupid which I have no interest in knowing anyways.
I guess I should get as much lunch as him so I have an excuse to sit and wait for him so that he isn't alone. Though I wasn't feeling the weird looking lasagna, I still loaded up quite a portion to match the amount Alvin had on his plate.
I followed him through the crowded cafeteria trying to dodge filled water glasses and plates that were being transferred to different tables. I spotted Sali and Alex sitting in the corner and tried to quickly keep up with Alvin to get a seat next to him.
"Bro likes lasagna, chiiill" Sali says while looking at Alvins plate having slightly more lasagna than mine. Sali talks like a literal discord server, it needs to stop.
"K, at least I have some muscles, and you don't" Alvin responded unbothered. I smile after seeing Sali's priceless reaction. Alvin always seems to have comebacks for any insult. He's a natural.
After a while of chatting and forceing myself to eat at least some of my lasagna it's just me and Alvin left. But what I thought was gonna be me waiting for Alvin to finish his food have switched and it's now me trying my best to finish up my way too big portion.
"Are you ever done?" Alvin asked, watching my plate slightly annoyed.
"I'm trying" I said, stuffing my mouth full of lasagna. At this point most people have left and at our spot in the deepest corner of the cafeteria, nobody is even In sight.
"Want help or what's the problem just eat bro" Alvin said getting some of my lasagna on his fork.
"I can't," I said, shoving my plate towards him.
"If you keep going like this you're never gonna become a good football player ever, just letting you know" he said, stuffing his mouth full of my lasagna. I let out a giggle under my breath as I watched him eat what's left on my plate. How can he look so endearing when he's just eating?
"Let's go" he said, shoving my finished plate into my chest and walking away towards the dishes.
As we get back from lunch we rush to our lockers to get our English books. Me and Alvin don't exactly have the same opinions of our English classes. He hates them, I like them. You may be wondering why I like them. I've never liked English classes before but for some reason, helping Alvin when he's struggling is worth looking forward to.
I follow him into our classroom and to our usual seats. We sit pretty upfront, I don't really like it. It kinda makes me feel watched, but hopefully we'll get better seats next time we switch.
"Today we're continuing on our presentations for next Friday, you should be halfway done by now so if you're behind it's time to get working" Mrs Eastberg said with the most unencouraging voice to ever exist. I hate her, and I don't hate a lot. Especially not humans, but this creature is the most easily hated human ever. Still, I have to do her work.
Alvin and I have not even touched that google slide document so we should probably start working. The project is to make a presentation of a book we read a while back. For me, this task is quite easy since I read my book. Alvin on the other hand, didn't.
"How the fuck am I going to pass" Alvin said burying his face into his hands.
"Should've thought about that one before" I said giggling slightly while typing away on my Chromebook. I could feel his gaze from beside me and I tried my best not to look at him.
"Fuck you" he answered laying his head down on our desk.
"Come on lets get moving" I said pulling his computer up and getting slides started.
"What am I supposed to write?I haven't read anything in the past like four years. I'll just not do it, what is she gonna do" he sassed to me.
"Well she will probably not pass you, but if that's what you want then get ready for another year of being a freshman." I said sarcastically knowing he'll rather die than having to spend an extra year in school. "Just search up a random book and a description, it's not fucking mission impossible" I suggested shoving his cromebook in front of him.
I could hear his tired sighs trying to find a book with enough information to make a presentation about. And I know he wasn't even trying that hard to find one either.
"I can't find one, fuck this I don't even care" he said closing his cromebook and turning around to lean against the wall with his head.
"I'll help you later, I'll just have to finish mine." I said, turning my head to look at him. My eyes met with his and I felt an instant freeze at the sight. A slight grin was growing on his face knowing he wouldn't have to do his presentation by himself. He was playing with his small silver bracelet on his wrist, though all I could see was his tan skin with his almost bright blue veins popping a little more than usual.
As I looked away I could still feel his gaze on me making me a little nervous. After a while I heard him chuckle lightly and turn his attention toward Sali who was sitting in front of him. They started a conversation about something utterly uninteresting like usual as I continued my work.
After a while I felt his hand move from off the desk and onto my thigh as he slumped back on his chair with a dramatic sigh.
"This class is so unnecessary. Like, I honestly don't understand why we even have to attend. We already know English so what's the point?" He ranted but I had a hard time focusing as my mind was still caught on the fact that his hand was on my thigh. He did that sometimes but this time was different, I'm sure of it. Did he just sigh and slump back on his chair, to hide the fact that he was caressing my thigh?
I couldn't help but smile, hoping nobody asked why I looked like an idiot smiling to myself. I hid my face by resting my head onto my crossed arms. Now staring at the vein filled hand resting on my thigh.
My breaths became quicker and it felt like my heart was beating outside of my body. My hot face was blushing more than ever before and I felt the urge to scream and run far away from this classroom. But the feeling kept me still, not moving a muscle.
"You good?" Alvin said, trying to mask the hint of worry in his voice by chuckling a little after.
"Mhm" I answered back quietly, slightly twisting my head to meet his eyes.
I felt the warmth of his hand on my thigh move to my head as he gently rubbed my hair in assurance. I couldn't help but shiver at his touch as I had a soft spot for people touching my hair. Although I have to admit I was a little disappointed that his hand was no longer on my thigh.
