Our Brave Little Star and BFF Battle The Brain Tumor

Chapter 8

Starscream has recently started his cancer treatment. Starscream was being very brave during the treatment.

His siblings were all doing their best to help out around the house and such. However Starscream was getting a lot more attention than normal. That made them a little bit surprised to say the least.

Slipstream who was the oldest, she was starting to become overprotective of Starscream. She wanted to keep him safe, and help her parents out whenever she can. Thundercracker was thinking of ways he can help his brother cope and his siblings cope. He was even writing a couple of books. Novastorm she was having a hard time seeing Starscream go through this and was angry that it had to happen to someone she loved. Skywarp on the other hand wasn't to happy that Starscream was being spoiled and pampered. He knew most of the time his brother was going to treatments, tests and check ups with their parents. But he couldn't help but feel jealous that Starscream was the focus on a lot of things as of late. All four of Starscream's siblings were surprised that people they knew were sending cards and presents just for Starscream.

"It's not fair!" Skywarp shouted. "Starscream is the only one getting presents and he is the only one getting loved and attention it is unfair!" He said.

"Why is he the only one getting all the attention and presents from friends and relatives, don't we matter anymore?" Novastorm asked.

"Doesn't anyone care about us anymore?" Thundercracker asked.

"Why are we being ignored don't we matter too?" Slipstream asked.

Megatron and Hyperia could see that their other children were starting to feel left out and left behind. They still loved their four older children and could understand how they were feeling at the moment. They could see that things were hard for them too. "I know we have been busy with your brother and he has been the main focus of things as of late," Megatron said.

"Your brother needs a lot of attention, kids with cancer need their parents more because they need focus on their care," Hyperia said. "But that doesn't mean we don't love you," she said.

"We still love you kids very much," Megatron said. "This has been a big change for all of us," he said. "We miss our time with you all too," he said.

"I was thinking we can each set a special day for each of you to have fun with you during the week," Hyperia said. "It will special for you, kids so you all can still have our attention," she said.

"I like that," Slipstream said.

"Me too," Thundercracker said.

"I like it," Novastorm said.

"That's a great idea," Skywarp said.

Starscream was busy getting treatment for the next few weeks. Starscream was curious about hair loss.

He watched the video on hair loss. He learned when and how quickly it happens is different for everyone one. He might only lose a little bit of hair or it might thin out slowly or he could lose all of it really fast. He might even lose his eyebrows and eyelashes. He learned he can wear hats, bandanas, wigs or just be him. So there was no wrong way to go about it.

Starscream soon had his last radiation therapy treatment. He was very brave for it and stayed very still for it. Then after about 22 minutes it was over. Starscream was happy when it was over too.

Starscream was already losing some of his hair. He was finding some of his hair on his pillow and some of it on his hair brush. He knew he could lose more of it during chemotherapy. He was going to be brave when it happens for now he needs to wait and rest for a few weeks before then.

Starscream was able to go to Kindergarten and see his friends. Hannah was even in his class. He introduced Hannah to his other friends. They became friends with Hannah too. They were all very happy to be friends.

A child life specialist explained Starscream's diagnosis and what it meant. The child life specialist explained about why Starscream was losing his hair. The child life specialist also explained that cancer isn't contagious. The child life specialist also explained that Starscream will need to go back to the hospital to stay there sometimes during treatment. The child life specialist also went to the classes of Starscream's brothers and sisters to talk too.

Starscream's classmates had a lot of questions for him. Starscream did his best to try to answer them. But he still had tests and check ups to go to before he started chemotherapy in December.

"Starscream it's so great to see you," Demolisher said. "We haven't seen you in a while," he said.

"Yes we really missed you," Cyclonus said. "Hopefully we can play together again sometime," she said.

"I am happy we get to spend of time together because I know there will very times when we can't because of your treatment," Skyfire said.

"Well I am always happy to spend time with my friends," Starscream said. He really missed his friends, and his friends really missed him too. 

"I am glad I made some more friends since coming here," Hannah said.

"No matter what happens we are still your friends," Skyfire said.

"Yes and we care about you," Demolisher said.

"Whenever you can and we can we will spend time with you," Cyclonus said. 

"Thanks guys you are the best friends a kid could ask for," Starscream said. He was happy to have such good and wonderful friends. Starscream was hoping things were going to keep going well at school.

Starscream was happy to be home whenever he came home from tests, treatments or school. But he noticed sometimes how his siblings were feeling. He could tell they were all having a hard time with this. But they all still gave him big hugs every now and again. 

He noticed his siblings were all being extra nice to him too. They were letting Starscream chose what to watch more. They were also choosing games that Starscream liked to play. He was wondering why they were being nicer to him than normal. "Why are you all being so nice?" Starscream asked.

"Because you have cancer and we want to help you feel better and keep your spirits up," Slipstream said.

"Yes and we love you little brother," Thundercracker said.

"You are also being very brave about it too," Novastorm said.

"You are our little brother and you matter a lot to us," Skywarp said.

"Oh okay," Starscream said. He was happy to have such wonderful siblings. 

Starscream was going to be very strong and soon he was going to start chemotherapy. He was going to be very brave when it happens. He knew had the support of his friends, family and doctors. With that kind of support he can handle anything treatment throws at him.
