Steamworks

Shortly after entering the Steamworks, Axis will arrive to greet Frisk.

"GREETINGS, NEW HUMAN. I AM AXIS MODEL 014, CHIEF OF SECURITY HERE AT THE STEAMWORKS, WHERE TOMORROW MEANS PEACE. CLOVER HAS ALERTED ME OF YOUR ARRIVAL AND HAS TASKED ME WITH GUIDING YOU TO THE ELEVATOR TO HOTLAND. I AM UNABLE TO COMPUTE WHY YOU WISH TO LEAVE THE SANCTUARY BUT I SEE NO REASON TO DISOBEY THE HATTED HUMAN'S COMMAND. FOLLOW ME."

Axis will take Frisk to an elevator which wasn't in the game. Upon exiting, the pair will travel down a long corridor with windows, showing Monsters hard at work in factories and the energy facilities. During this trip, Axis will talk about the Steamworks' history, how it and all the bots inside it, including him, were abandoned after the CORE was built and how it was recently reopened and renovated when the Sanctuary was founded.

They'll soon reach the furnace room where Axis will give his goodbye and assure Frisk the Royal Guards that usually guard the other side of the elevator have been "TAKEN CARE OF,".

The elevator will drop Frisk off outside the lab due to all the restrictions that have been placed because of both the Sanctuary and Frisk's presence. Any elevator in Hotland can take Frisk to the Steamworks after being unlocked.

Hotland

The inside of the Lab will be dark. It will stay that way until Alphys crashes into Frisk after descending the stairs, with the lights turning on immediately after as the two pick themselves up.

"O-O-Oh my gosh. I'm so sorry about that. I didn't see you there. I really need to get that delay fixed. W-w-wait... It- It's you. Y-you're the human that just fell down here. O-oh god, this is bad. T-they said you were coming b-but I didn't expect you to get here so soon."

Alphys takes a moment to compose herself before explaining to Frisk that she isn't one of the 'Bad Guys', how she has been observing their journey and how she's been secretly using her position as the Royal Scientist to help the Sanctuary from the shadows while neglecting to mention the actual reason why she's helping them.

She'll go on to explain how Clover had called earlier, telling Alphys that Frisk had decided to continue their journey to Asgore and to let them pass through, something that Alphys had decided to ignore to instead guide Frisk through Hotland herself.

Before Frisk can respond, a robotic voice interrupts them, "Oh Alphys, darling! I thought you were just heading down to grab a snack! What's taking so long?"

"Oh no."

Mettaton will suddenly crash in between the two, as dramatic as ever. He'll notice Frisk immediately, "My, oh my, oh my. Is that what I think it is? Alphys, darling, you didn't mess with my processors did you? Because if I'm not mistaken, that is a human!"

Mettaton will go on to give a narcissistic speech about how this human is his key to reaching true greatness and blah blah blah. He'll then rush off, claiming that this moment, must be a spectacle for all to witness, with Alphys calling after him that she wasn't done with the the adjustments.

Alphys will apologise for what had happened and explain to Frisk that since tensions have been so high in the Underground, she had been asked by the Captain to, "make that hunk of junk useful." It's been a gradual process.

As Frisk travels through Hotland, there will be fewer notifications from Alphys since she can't casually talk about helping a human and she now needs to put genuine effort into helping Frisk.

The puzzles will be overall the same but there will be a few extra, along with the usual increased population of guards. Mettaton's segments will be the same but there won't be any convenient solutions. For the cooking section, instead of having to reach an ingredient with a jetpack, Frisk needs to bake a good enough dish for Mettaton to let them go. In the bomb section, disarming the bombs means inputting a code that Mettaton kindly stuck on, just in case. In the battle at the tile minigame, Frisk will shoot Mettaton's wheel, causing him to fall on an electric tile and thus temporarily stunning him. Alphys will tell Frisk about the switch on Mettaton's back in case they ever have to fight him again.
