The soft light of early morning filtered through the curtains as Jennie awoke with a sudden feeling of nausea. She groaned softly, clutching her stomach as waves of dizziness washed over her. It felt like she had been drinking all night, but she knew it wasn't the case. With a heavy sigh, she dragged herself out of the sofa and stumbled towards the bathroom. The bathroom tiles felt cool against her bare feet as Jennie leaned over the toilet, her body heaving as she retched painfully. Minutes passed in a haze of discomfort, each wave of nausea leaving her weaker than before. Finally, she managed to rinse her mouth and splash some water on her face, trying to steady her breathing.
As Jennie emerged from the bathroom, still feeling shaky, her eyes widened in shock. There, sitting on the sofa in the dimly lit living room, was Lisa. Her wife's gaze was intense, piercing, almost as if she could see right through Jennie's eyes. Jennie froze, the air thick with unspoken tension.
Lisa's stare was inscrutable, holding a weight that Jennie couldn't quite decipher. It was as if Lisa was silently demanding answers, yet also hesitant to hear them. The silence stretched on for what felt like an eternity, neither of them daring to break it.
Finally, Jennie summoned the courage to speak. "Lisa, about last-"
"Forget what happened," Lisa cut in abruptly, her voice cold and distant. "Act like nothing happened between us."
Jennie's heart sank at Lisa's words, the weight of their unspoken encounter pressing down on her shoulders. Before she could gather her thoughts, Lisa's demeanor shifted abruptly.
Lisa's tone was sharp, "What's your connection with Nancy!?"
Jennie's head was spinning, her confusion mounting at Lisa's sudden interrogation. Trembling slightly, Jennie struggled to find her voice.
"Nancy... she's my best friend," Jennie managed to say, her voice wavering. "Lisa, what's the matter? Why are you asking about Nancy?"
Lisa's eyes flashed with anger, her jaw clenched tightly. "Your 'best friend'," she spat out the words with venom, "is not a good friend, Jennie. She set me up."
Jennie's asked, confused, "Set you up? What do you mean?"
Lisa's voice rose, the hurt and betrayal evident in every word. "You and Nancy planned it all, didn't you? From the beginning," Lisa accused, her voice cracking with emotion. "You planned our wedding. You planned that video in the bar. And you planned everything that happened on my birthday."
Jennie's eyes widened in shock, tears welling up as she tried to comprehend what Lisa was saying. "No, Lisa, I swear I didn't know..."
"You knew!" Lisa interrupted, her voice escalating into a shout. "You knew about Nancy filming us that night! You knew about everything!"
Jennie shook her head frantically, her hands trembling at her sides. "Lisa, I swear I didn't know about the video. I had no idea."
Lisa's face contorted with rage and hurt. "Stop lying to me!" she yelled, her words lashing out like daggers. "I trusted you, Jennie. I trusted you, and you betrayed me."
Tears streamed down Jennie's cheeks as she struggled to find the words to defend herself. "Lisa, please listen to me. You are my wife, i didn't plan any of this. I would never..."
"Wife?" Lisa scoffed bitterly. "Is that why you and Nancy plotted to ruin me?"
"No, Lisa, you have to believe me," she pleaded desperately. "I didn't do any of those things. Nancy, she..."
"I know what Nancy did," Lisa interrupted, her voice suddenly quieter but still filled with anger. "I found out about the video. Seulgi and I investigated. We found out it was Nancy who filmed us that night."
