My cheeks turn red as I walk into the station. It's ironic considering it's hot outside and the ac is on here.

I've never actually been inside a police station. There's a bunch of cops, not surprising and a big office on the left side of the front desk. I'm supposing it's the main office since there's a lot of desks and computers. Some cops are busy calling while others are going through piles of paper work. Every now and then the sound of a siren sounds as a police car races away. The air is filled with coffee scent, there must be a coffee machine close by. I could use some myself, after all with all this commotion there is no time to get some rest.

"Eh hi, I eh... I'd like to report someone",

I walk up to the front desk.

"Do you have an appointment?",

the lady behind the desk looks up, lurking over her glasses.

"Eh no I'm a walk in",

nerves are crawling through my body.

"Okay, I'll see if I can find someone available to take your report",

the woman grabs the phone and presses one of the many buttons on it.

"Eva are you busy? Good, could you come over here someone is here for a report, okay thanks",

she hangs up.

"Please feel free to take a seat, someone will be with you shortly",

the woman points at the waiting era.

While sitting down I keep thinking about that name; Eva. Why does that name sound so familiar?

Where have I heard it before? I'm pretty sure I have. Eva... it's on the tip of my tongue but I just can't get to it.

Suddenly a hand taps my shoulder. I look up to see a woman standing over me, that's when all pieces fall into place.

It's her! The woman from Sabrina's picture, that's why the name Eva sounded so familiar.

I recognize her brown bangs. The rest of her hair is tucked into a low ponytail. She's not wearing a uniform like the other cops are, instead she's dressed in all black.

Well this conversation is about to become very ugly very quickly. Is she aware of what's happening with Sabrina? What is their relationship exactly? Has Eva just been taking care of Sabrina or has she actually adopted her? Are they even in contact with each other?

A million questions pop up in my mind.

"Hello? Can I help you?",

Eva frowns.

Oh crap, I totally spaced out!

"Eh yeah... can we eh talk somewhere more privet though",

I stammer while blushing.

"Of course we can",

Eva smiles.

We walk through the big office into a consulting room. It's a small and plain room. The windows have blinds in front of them allowing you to view the office, Eva closes them for some extra privacy. Next to that there's a desk, two cupboards filled with paperwork and a coffee machine that she's now using.

"Want one?",

she offers.

"Eh yeah sure",

I could use the energy boost.

Obviously the coffee isn't big or fancy but it has to do.

Now it's time for the real talk.

How do I tell her Sabrina is currently in the hospital fighting for her life?

"Sorry, do you mind if I keep my phone on? I can't reach my daughter",

Eva seats down with her phone.

She seems worried as she looks at the screen.

Daughter? Is she referring to Sabrina?

"So she has this little house in the forest and the connection there can be pretty weak so that's probably why I can reach her but still I'm a bit worried",

she's definitely referring to Sabrina.

"Sabrina?",

I ask.

Eva looks up at me, her facial expression both shocked and startled.

"Do I know you?",

she asks.

"Not yet",

but you will.

"Sabrina is my roommate, we've gotten pretty close...",

I start.

"But right now she's in the hospital... she's fighting for her life because her stupid so called "friend" hurt her",

a few tears roll down my cheeks.

"Trent?",

Eva's tone lowers.

Ouch she knows, I can just tell by the look in her eyes as I nod.

"He fed her stoned, he then kept feeding her drugs and he even... he sexually harassed her, it's all because of him that she's in the hospital right now",

I spill.

A moment of silence falls between us as Eva processes what I've just said.

"Son of a bitch! Gosh I told Sabrina to stay away from him... when I get my hands on him, little fucker",

she then mutters.

"Please arrest him, I need Sabrina to be safe",

new tears pop into my eyes.

"You bet your ass I will",

Eva gets up, as do I.

"Please make sure she's okay and let me know when she can have visitors",

now it's Eva getting emotional.

I'm determent to make sure she's okay. I meant it when I told mom I love Sabrina. But unfortunate there's not much I can do, all I can really do is pray and have faith in the doctors. Suddenly my phone buzzes in my pocket, it's mom. She's still waiting outside, she must be wondering why it's taking so long.

"Hee mom, I've just finished I'll be with you in a minute",

I pick up.

"May, the hospital called",

mom interrupts me.

This is it, the oh so dreaded phone call has been made. My stomach ties in a knot and the cheep coffee I just drank suddenly has a bitter after taste.

Whatever mom's about to tell me will change everything, I'm nervous.

If Sabrina dies that's it. It'll be over for me.

"Shit, my phone's dying",

the connection gets crappy.

No, no, no not now!

"Just come to the car I'll explain everything there".

"No mom, you have to tell me now, did Sabrina make it?"

"She hasn't...",

the phone gets cut off.

The whole room starts spinning and I'm frozen.

Sabrina didn't make it?!

She's...

... dead?!
