My eyes open, was it all a dream? Definitely not, I'm still in Sabrina's arms. For once she's the one holding me close instead of the other way around.

Not gonna lie, I could get used to it. Her arms are so tiny it's adorable. Mine are wrapped around her waist.

She's still sleeping deeply. A beeping sound wakes me from my thoughts. It's my phone, mom has texted. She's coming over soon.

That's great. Suddenly I remember the big fight we had before everything happened. The way I snapped at that Mike guy.

Can you bring Mike? I type.

For a moment I pause and stare at the message. Do I really want this?

Maybe not but I owe them an apology. And maybe I should give him a chance before judging. After all; I got my happy ending so why shouldn't mom get hers.

By the quick respond I can tell mom is happy about me wanting Mike to come. It's only a matter of time before they arrive.

It still feels weird seeing her with a guy who's not dad but she seems happy and that's all that matters.

"I'm so sorry we couldn't come quicker but both our work has been crazy busy",

mom immediately apologizes.

"No, no please I'm the one who should be apologizing. Mike I'm so sorry for how I acted towards you. I was in a bad place mentally and I had absolutely no right to take it out on you. Mom I'm really happy for you that you found love, you deserve it but please forgive me for still being a little scared. I've seen what dad did to you and I really don't want you to go through that again",

my eyes become watery.

"I appreciate your apology and I'm most definitely not mad about it. I understand your fear, I myself have it too. Your mom told me about your dad and I actually went through something similar that's how we connected",

Mike seats down next to my bed.

Now that I'm at ease he actually seems like a nice guy.

He has a gentle but caring tone in his eyes. A tone dad has never had. Maybe he is okay after all.

"Look May, I can't promise you your mom won't get hurt but I can promise you that I don't want her to and that if she does I'll be right there to protect her",

he smiles at me.

"Thanks... that uh... means a lot",

I smile shyly.

"You really look like your mom, you're just as pretty as she is. When we first met she couldn't stop talking about you so it's an honor to finally properly meet you",

Mike reaches out a hand.

"Likewise",

I reply accepting his handshake.

"I know we only just met but I'm gonna continue dating your mom. So if you ever need a fatherly figure, I'm happy to be out there for you",

there's that gentle smile again.

Mom is smiling ear to ear as she looks at him making an effort towards me.

She really is in love, wait do I look like that when I look at Sabrina? Ooh that's cringe. Well it's kinda cute too if I'm being honest.

"Thanks, that means a lot... there is one last test you have to pass if you want to keep dating my mom",

I look at mom and back at Mike.
