A few days had passed for the Newyorkers at the Xavier Institute and things were heating up in the danger room. The teens were all gathered in workout clothes, preparing a special danger room configuration that would hopefully benefit the evolution of their powers. Teams of 3 would each enter the danger room against a few dozen robots which Scott had called 'Sentinels'.

"You guys ready?" Jean asked through a microphone in the control room hanging from the top of the danger room.

"Yep, let 'em loose," Scott with his visor on signalled from the inside of the danger room, with both speedsters standing on either side of him.

Jean pressed a button in the control room, opening several panels and discharging the Sentinels into the danger room. Danny and Peter D reacted fast, running circles on the walls of the room to gather momentum for their attacks. Scott on the other hand stood his ground and fired half a dozen consecutive optic blasts, destroying 2 Sentinels and damaging 3. After a couple of laps of the room, Peter D jumped off the wall and punched a hole straight through one of the Sentinels. Danny on the other hand jumped over a Sentinel, grabbing its head and bringing it to the ground as he landed. Using his super soldier strength, the dark-haired speedster threw the Sentinel into the three robots Scott had damaged, ripping off its head and destroying the robots it landed on top of.

Danny then formed a Kine ball and threw it between a group of Sentinels, causing them to try and fight the construct's unpredictable bouncing.

This gave Peter D the opportunity to jump between the robots, using his accumulated momentum to punch fatal blows into the mechanical opponents. Scott then held down the button on his visor, releasing a high-intensity optic blast, destroying a large majority of the remaining Sentinels while Danny and Peter D took care of the last 3.

"Nice work guys, I think that's a record," Kitty praised and the boys in the danger room celebrated. When the room was empty, she pressed a button, opening panels around the room and disposing of the destroyed Sentinels so that they could potentially be recycled into more robots.

"Next group, we're up," Shuri said enthusiastically as she dragged Laura and Kate out of the room. It seemed that Hank had been busy the past few days as before their training session, he had given Kate a quiver with all of her usual trick arrows. They were a little heavier than she would have preferred but she was still grateful.

When the three girls were ready in the danger room, Kitty released the Sentinels. Kate immediately removed 3 explosive arrows from her quiver and fired them simultaneously at the three closest Sentinel, causing a rather large explosion. Laura pounced into the smoke and moments later, the three robots had been cut to pieces, Laura then continued, using her claws to slice through 2 Sentinels simultaneously.

Shuri used her gauntlets to blast one of the sentinel's arms off while she narrowly avoided a punch from the large robot's remaining arm and after switching to her shields, used their sharp edges to cut off the Sentinels legs. She then delivered the final blow by blasting its head to pieces.

Kate jumped out of the way as a sentinel sent a left hook her way. The archer pulled a special arrow out of her quiver and fired. The arrow detonated at the sentinel's feet and released a mound of fast-hardening foam. As the robot struggled to get free, Laura sliced off its arms and Shuri blasted it in the chest.

"Shuri, watch your tech," Kate warned as she armed an arrow with a glowing blue tip.

"I upgraded them ages ago. They're immune to your arrows," Shuri replied as she used her shield to send a few damaging jabs into a sentinel.

Taking this as a signal, Kate fired an EMP arrow at the remaining group of sentinels approaching the three girls. Moments later, the robots stopped moving. Laura took off, followed by the other two, and with a mix of slices, blasts, and arrows, the robots were down for the count.
