Ponyboy's P.O.V.
"What's going on?" I asked with a questioned face

"Malia here got herself in a fight. Do you have anything to do with it?" Soda asked in a hushed tone

I opened my mouth to speak but Malia cut me off "Pony had nothing to do with it, the only reason why it started was because a Soc was saying stuff about Johnny." She couldn't even look at us

"Malia I get that it's hard after losing Johnny, but you just can't quit at everything." Darry said in a serious tone

"I'm sorry it won't happen again." Malia whispered then she just walked up to my room.

I followed her but then Darry stopped me and gave me a look that said "Don't" so I didn't, but five minutes later I did.

Malia's P.O.V.
I went up to my room and just sat on the bed and thought about the fight. I was in there for maybe five minutes before Pony came in checking on me, I swear he always tries to be around me. It's weird.

"Are you good?" Pony said while giving me a fake smile

"Pony I know that smile is fake so you can put it away." I said looking away. I give to many fake smiles so I can tell if one is fake

"Fine, you caught me, but in all seriousness are you good?" Pony asked

"Yeah I'm fine, I was just thinking about the things that girl said at lunch." I said in a reassuring tone

"All the things she said aren't real, it's fine." He said while putting his hand on mine.

I quickly removed my hand and started blushing so I told him I had to use the bathroom, I didn't I lied. I sat on the bathroom floor thinking: that was really weird, like really really weird. Why did he grab my hand, maybe he was trying to be like Johnny, who know it's Ponyboy.

I went back to the room Pony was gone, so I grabbed my close and went downstairs to apologize for how I acted but nobody was there. I went up into the bathroom to take a shower and I started singing my favorite song My girl

I was then interrupted by someone
"Talkin' 'bout Malia , My girl."
I popped my head to see who is was
"You can sing Malia." He said in a genuine tone. It was Ponyboy,  I was so mad and embarrassed.
"By the look on your face I shouldn't be here." He said while backing up
"Your damn right, I'm in the shower Pony what makes you think you can come bursting in!" I didn't realize I was yelling
"Know probably isn't a good time to tell you that the whole gang heard you." I looked out the door and there they were.
All I said was "Get out." I didn't even yell I just pointed to the door. He walked out and closed the door, I sat on the shower floor and cried.

Ponyboy's P.O.V.

I shut the door and sat down on the couch.

"You got a little crush on her there Pony" Steve said while laughing.
"Pony your always blushing we she's around and act tuffer." Two-bit added

I did like her I thought she was really pretty and nice, sometimes, but I lied.
" No I don't like her, I would rather kiss I dead possum that's been lying on the side of the road for weeks than kiss her!" I yelled it and Everybody had a shocked face. "What?" Soda pointed behind me, I turned around and Malia was standing there in tears. "Pony I was truly starting to like you as a friend, I was also about to say yes to moving in." She took a breath " and you say that about me, if Johnny was here he would kick your ass!" She said it through tears and ran out the door.
