Around Every Corner (Part 7)

 Kenny, Lee and Brie walked into the classroom. You spotted your dad and the other two and smiled widely. You nudged Clement who was resting his head on the desk. He looked at you confused then saw Lee. The two of you got up and ran over to the adults. "Daddy!" You yelled, hugging him. Kenny smiled softly and hugged you tightly. "I'm back."

"You're back!" Clem smiled, staring at Lee and Kenny. "Yeah, and we made out pretty good too." Kenny smiled at Clem. "Great work, Kenny!" Ben smiled, still working on the lock. "How're you doing with that door?" Kenny asked, looking over at Ben.

"Not so good." Ben replied, frowning a bit. "Here, let me give you a hand." Kenny said, walking over to Ben. "You get that battery yet?" Kenny questioned, glancing at Lee. "Yeah, Molly has it, she should be back here soon." Lee replied, making Kenny frown a bit. "She'd better be."

Lee walked back out of the classroom and headed over to the nurses office where Christa and Vernon were at. Lee turned the corner and saw a group of walkers standing outside the nurses office. Lee hid behind a random desk in the hallway, "Sh*t. Christa and Vernon must be trapped in there." Lee mumbled to himself.

Lee pulled out his gun and shot one of them, getting their attention. Lee aimed his gun and began shooting the group of walkers coming his way until they were all dead. Lee then walked into the nurses office, where Christa pointed her gun at him. Lee turned to her, making her eyes widen as she lowered her gun.

"What the h*ll happened?" Lee questioned the two. "They wandered into the hallway after we got inside. I think they must have heard us rooting around in here. This whole place is infested, they're everywhere!" Christa nervously said. "Calm down. I took care of them. What about the meds, did we find what you need?" Lee questioned.

"Yeah - that's our other problem. Take a look." Vernon said, walking over to a safe. "Looks like they were keeping all the prescription meds in that safe - locked up tight."

"There's no way we can bust it open?" Lee asked. "Maybe, with enough time. But I don't know how much of that we have. Be a h*ll of a lot quicker if we just knew the four digit combination." Vernon replied, shaking his head.

"Well I doubt they just wrote it down and left it here for us to find. We should just try busting it open, we don't have any other choice." Christa said, walking over to the safe. "Okay," Lee nodded, "You get started, I'll take a look around, see if I can find anything useful."

Lee began looking around, spotting a folder on the desk. Lee opened and read, "Anna Correa. I guess she must have been a patient here. And what's this?" Lee questioned, picking up a video tape. Lee looked over and spotted a camcorder and put the tape inside it. "Vernon, Christa. Come look at this." Lee called out, making the two come over.

The tape started to play showing a woman, sitting down. "This is day eighty-two since the outbreak... fifteen forty-seven. Doctor Logan in consultation with patient Anna Correa." The doctor narrated, as he walked in front of the camera, standing next to the woman. "Why are you recording this?" Anna asked, looking at the bald man.

"Regulations. Oberson has ordered me to keep records of all medical examinations and consultations." The doctor replied, "I need you to brace yourself, Anna. The sonogram confirms that you're pregnant." The woman's face fell upon hearing the news, "Oh no, oh no, oh no.." She mumbled, as she started sobbing.

"As you know, the rules are very clear. The termination is mandatory." The doctor added, making the woman look up. "You don't have to tell them. Tell them it was just nausea, that you gave me something for it and it went away. This is my problem, not yours." Anna said, looking at the Doctor.
