Don't Go Breaking My Heart

Chapter Five

Hye Rin was reading a book when the door opened and saw her four year old climbing in and laid on her lap.  His face shown how exhausted he was.

"Hi baby. Are you alright?" She ask stroking his face as he buried himself on her lap.

"Mama" he paused and looked up at her and ask "Why are adults so mean?" He ask

And that made her wonder what had happened while her son was out with her grandparents.

"What happened baby?" She ask, now concerned.

The child let out a soft sigh and looked at his mom "Mama, Jun Jae promise will protect you from all the bad people"

She couldn't help  but smile and kissed the top of her son's head and rock him to sleep and he fell asleep instantly. She knew something happened and he didn't know how to express to her yet what it was.

She will ask her mother in-law in the morning as she falls asleep as well.

By morning she woken up bright and early to get ready and get her son ready for kindergarten. 

When they go down everyone was at the dining table having their meal.

She sat down and Jun Jae sat beside her.

The family had their breakfast and Hye Rin watch her husband eating and it made her heart boil. 

After helping cleaning up after breakfast she called her mother in-law who was about to go to the garden

"Mother, may I have a word with you for a minute" Hye Rin said and she saw her mother in-law stopped in tracks and turned to her with a smile.

The both of them sat down and Hye Rin began "Mother, did something happened yesterday at Grandma's house?"

Her mother in-law let out a sigh and looked right into Hye Rin's eyes and replied "Dam Bi came to visit and began to say a lot of things, about you and about him"

Hye Rin the realizes what her son has gone through.  Why he was in a bad mood.

"Grandma scolded Dam Bi  but it made the situation worst" her mother in-law continued.

"I see. Now I know why Jun Jae was in a horrible mood last night" Hye Rin said and her mother in-law eyes looked sad and guilty. 

"It's alright. Even if the world doesn't know let us all know Jun Jae is a miracle" her mother in-law  said.

Hye Rin felt a lot better. But part of her felt bad to see her son being insulted because of society. Thus the reason why she doesn't want to expose him too much to the public.

"Thank you" Hye Rin said, thankful but felt apologetic. She wish she could protect her son and felt guilty and soon she started tearing up and her mother in-law hugged her.

She was crying for a few minutes and as she was wiping the tears. Unknown to them they were being watched by Woo Jae who too felt sadden he couldn't protect his own son.

He was angry and felt he should've followed them.

He was surprised to see his wife, Hye Rin cry for the first time. All the times they were meeting each other, she seem reserve and very hard person.
Stubborn even.

"Finally" he sighed aloud as he watched Hye Rin going up the staircase and their eyes met.

"Pathetic" he mumbled. He knew it's a horrible thing to say but he knew she is unfazed.

She ignored him and went to her room. Woo Jae felt offended as she ignored him.

He goes back to his own room and goes ready to go out.

The days went by and soon it's  been
Four months when Hye Rin often stumbled upon her husband and his mistress at the mall.

She ignored them as usual until he called her "Hye Rin"

She turned around with a small pout, annoyed.

He find her interesting and said "Mom and dad are hosting a dinner party today at Grand Hyatt Hotel. Come home early so we can go together"

She, who was now annoyed with him said "No" and turned around and was about to leave when she was pulled back and was slapped.

She turned back to him and slapped him back.

He glared at her and said "You will regret doing that"

"I don't fucking care" and left, still angry. She went home, and went to see Jun Jae getting ready.

The child looked at her and with a smile said "Mama, where are we going?"

She then smiled and said "To a party your grandmother and grandfather is hosting"

The child was excited as he jumped up and down "Really Mama?" And the young mother smiled

"Really" she replied "I'm sure it'll  be fun" she added. "I just want you to behave okay? And don't talk to strangers"

The child just nodded "I promise Mama" and hugging his mom happily.

She doesn't know that at the party, something unexpected will happen soon.
