Don't Go Breaking My Heart

Chapter Eight

Hye Rin didn't know what had happened to her ex-husband until she visited the company and her ex father in-law told her the sad news.

"Hye Rin, Woo Jae..." he paused and Hye Rin looked at the older man "He had a heart attack"

Hye Rin was shocked as her eyes went wide and then she remembered what he had done "He deserve it"

The older man said "Please can you forgive him and give him another chance?"

She, still stubborn replied "He didn't think of the consequences of his actions when he hurt me the most"  she looked out the window overlooking the city and continued  "When his son was being called a disgraceful, illegitimate"

The older man couldn't say a word, knowing those were the truth. He too was disappointed of his son being so selfish and didn't do anything.

"It hurts to see my first born son so scared of people, especially adults. He is more matured now and I'm so proud of him. He was the one who protected me after the divorce.  Your son didn't do a damn thing, now asking for forgiveness is never on my mind, ever"

The older man then said "Then what do I do with him?" He now was at wits end of what to do.

"He is a responsible adult" she said "He should've know what he did will haunt him"

The conversation was changed afterwards as Hye Rin said she is leaving to pick up the kids from school.

She walked out of the building and into the awaiting car that was waiting in front of the building.

She went in and said to the driver, who she hired from the taxi company to work for her and said "Mr. Im, let's pick up my kids at their school"

Mr. Im, the taxi driver that she met nodded and said "Alright Ma'am" and soon drove to the school.

She knew the life she lead is better now. She forgave him long ago but never forget. Her heart broke because the person  who was responsible on getting her pregnant 10 years ago now is suffering due to his own doing.

She forgive but never forget. She have to stay strong for her children. Working hard and still spending time with them were her priorities for now. She didn't want her children to go through the same thing she did when she was young and immature.

As she was looking out the window overlooking the Han River, she thought of that fateful night and shivered just thinking of her own mistakes.

But people makes mistakes. She knows that and people will repent  but she knew once she open up her heart again she might get hurt, again. She didn't want that.

But often her bestfriend and sister in-law would nag her to go out and go back to meeting someone again  but she is scared  and Hyo Rin knew that.

Which her best friend would then say "It's not too late to open your heart to someone. I am sure there will be someone who break through that high wall that you build"

She thought of those words over and over again.  And thought of millions scenarios of what will happen.

But always comes to a horrible conclusion, where she will be rejected.

"Its never too late to try" Seo Woo, her older brother said

"Yeah Hye Rin" Hyo Rin said "I know there is someone out there for you who will love you and the kids as well"

And those words gave her confidence to go on the dating scene but she was being cautious.

So she went to several dates with different men and find all of them with different personalities and felt them being either  conceited, arrogant, rude, and down right unpleasant.

Until she met a man by the name of Do Hyun Woo, a 35 years old man who works at a Architecture firm just a few building away from her company.

They met at a quiet coffeehouse after she was rushing to get her morning coffee (She doesn't allow her secretary to get her coffee as she always gets it wrong).

She accidentally spilled her Americano onto his blue dress shirt and was very flustered.

She was apologetic as she gave him tissues "I am so sorry. I am never this clumsy"

He gave her a soft smile and said "It's alright.  Accidents happens all the time"

She felt guilty "Let me pay for your coffee and also laundry" she offered.

"It's alright" he replied, declining her offer. 

"Are you sure?" She ask and he nodded

"I am sure" he replied

"Uh I'm sorry again" she said and looked at the time and her eyes widened "oh crap I'm late for the meeting" she mumbled "I got to go. I'll see you around" and soon she was gone.

That was the first time they met. Then they met again in the same coffeehouse and the next, until they started to interact more and got to know each other.

She found out that he is a Junior Architect at the firm a few blocks from her building and soon began their love story.

What will happen  when someone from her past began to interfere and wants to come back into her life.
