29| Battle

Draco's POV:

I left Slate with Natalie to keep her safe locked in my room as I went to tell Harry the plan.

If he didn't think it was a good idea I would go get her out right now but he has to know why. I have to tell him about the pregnancy.

"Potter!" I called after him.

"Malfoy where Natalie?" He looked around me to see if she was near but she wasn't.

"I've locked her in my room so she stays safe. I'm not just protecting her. Look she wanted to tell you when things were safer but screw that you have to know right now. Natalie is pregnant and I don't want her to leave the safety of that room. I've made it so I am the only one who can open the door. If you want me to go get her out I will but it's your call."

He stared at me for a moment trying to comprehend what I just said.

"Is that why Avery is in the dungeon?" He asked.

"Yeah." I nodded quickly.

"Ok tell me everything later but she stays in that room until this is all over." He told me.

"You got it." I nodded at him.

The battle went on as more and more people died. When Harry told me that the dark lord killed Snape, my hatred for him grew.

Voldemort eventually called all of his forces to retreat because he didn't want anymore magical blood spilled. He demanded Harry and Nat go meet him in the forbidden forest where he would kill them and let everyone else live.

I turned to Harry who stood there contemplating the deal.

"Harry no!" Hermione hugged him tightly. "Please don't go." She began to cry.

"I have to." He hugged her back tightly. "Come here Ron." Harry let Ron into the hug as I watched. "You too Draco."

I smiled and joined the group hug. I never thought I would hug these people. I used to hate all of their guts.

"Do me a favor Draco." Harry stepped back. "Tell Nat that I'm doing this for her but don't let her feel like it's her fault. Tell her that her 3 minute older brother loves her."

"I will." I blinked tears back in my eyes.

"How are you going to get the dark lord to only kill you and not Natalie?" Ron asked.

"I'll tell him the truth. She was hit indirectly with the spell. She was never connected to him to way I was." He nodded his head. "She isn't the horcrux, I am. That night in Godrics Hollow I shielded her from the spell so only I got hit full on. She doesn't have to die and she won't."

"I'll never forget you!" Hermione jumped back into another hug.

"And I can never forget the brightest witch I've ever met." Harry smiled at her. "And the biggest eater I've ever seen." He laughed at Ron. "And the person who will always take care of my little sister." He softened his eyes at me and nodded respectfully. I returned the nod and he walked off to the forest.

It was an hour or two later when all the death eaters marched into the castle with Voldemort and Hagrid tied up carrying someone.

We all knew who it was but nobody wanted to say anything about it. We couldn't believe that he was gone.

I hated to say it but I was going to miss him. Although we got off to a really rocky start, we grew to care for one another because of Nat.

The dark lord gave his whole speech about how anyone who wishes to join him should do so now or die. My parents called me over and I was forced to go stand and join them not before Voldemort awkwardly hugged me.
