"Did you guys have to scare him like that?" I turned to my best friend and my brother.

"He knows not to hurt you now." Harry shrugged.

"He will get over it but he better not forget it." Avery copied Harry's actions.

"Ok fine." I crossed my arms. "What were the two of you doing before we came in?" I smirked as they both went red.

"Oh uhm-well..." Avery stuttered.

"You see, we were. Uhm we were..." Harry struggled with what to say. "Studying!" He looked up red in the face.

I just laughed at them and walked into the bathroom to touch up my hair.

================================

It was the last day before we had to go home for winter break and Christmas.

I was dreading it so I decided to take a walk through the corridors during class. The hallways were empty except for the occasional person going to the bathroom.

I was so lost in thought that I didn't realize Slate was right in front of me. I walked strait into him.

"Hey Nat. Long time so see." He smirked down at me.

"Leave me alone please." I tried walking past him but he grabbed my arm.

"Slate please." I tried shaking myself from his grip.

"How are you and Malfoy doing?" He lowered himself so he was right in my face.

"I'm not talking to you about this. Let me go." I avoided his question.

"Answer me Natalie!" He yelled throwing me to the floor.

I grunted in pain as my head hit the ground roughly. There were spots in my vision and I tired backing up.

I saw Slate raising his wand as me so I covered my face and curled into a ball. There was a big flash of light but nothing happened.

I opened my eyes and retracted myself from the fetal position I was in. He was gone. It looked like he was never here except for his wand laying on the ground.

I got up and looked around confused.

"He Natalie." Ron came from around the corner.

"Hey." I looked around some more.

"Something wrong?" He came up to me.

"It's just- did you see Slate run that way?" I asked.

"No why?" He looked at me with concern.

I told him what happened and he gave me a hug and made sure I didn't have a concussion. I didn't but my head still hurt.

He offered to do a spell that would fix it but I decided his offer. With Ron's skill, he may have ended up melting my brain.

"Has your necklace always been that color?" He asked. I looked down and saw my necklace to see it had turned almost black.

"No. It hasn't." I was so confused at what happened. Was it away from the cave for too long? Can crystals die? Did it loose whatever magic it had?

"Hey don't sweat it. It's still a pretty color." Ron put his hand on my shoulder comfortingly.

"Thanks Ron. I really need to get back to class though." I gave him one last hug and went back to class.

"Here we are. Home sweet home." Harry said sarcastically as we stood in front of the Dursley's home.
