A Potter and a Malfoy ✔️

30| Avery

We reached the cellar that Avery was in and opened it to reveal piles of rubble around. I saw a piece of red cloth and realized it was her robes.

"Guys look!" I pointed to it and we all searched for a moment and realized she was buried underneath a piece of stone.

"She's still alive." Draco confirmed.

Hermione used a spell to get rid of the thick stone piece as Slate and Ron carried her out and onto flat ground.

She was all beaten up with a swollen wrist, blood all over her, and staggered breathing.

"What do we do?" I asked panicked. "She almost died because we left her down here."

"She deserved it." Draco told me. "But I can help her."

We formed a circle around Avery as Draco took his wand out and got to work.

I could tell as much as Harry despised her for what she tried to do to me, he didn't want her to die.

I watched as Draco expertly healed her open wounds, got rid of the blood, and fixed up her clothes.

"What now?" Harry asked.

"Now we wait. Her injuries weren't too bad but she broke a few ribs and her wrist. I think she saw the stone falling and tried stopping it with her hand but failed. She'll survive though." Draco explained pointing to her wrist.

The swelling was going down quickly and Avery's breathing had become more normal.

"What are we going to say when she wakes up?" Hermione asked.

"Yeah I mean we can't exactly say, 'hey Avery sorry that you almost killed Natalie's baby so Draco locked you down here for two months and then you almost died because we were fighting a war.'" Ron held quotation marks in the air with his fingers as he spoke.

"No. We just apologize and hope Nat and Draco get one back." Slate said.

"Is that Slate Walker being reasonable for the first time in four years?" I said sarcastically smiling at him.

"Is that Natalie Potter being sarcastic for the first time in five minutes?" He responded in my same tone.

I just laughed and shook my head resting it on Harry's shoulder next to me.

"So we like him now 100% right?" Harry whispered to me.

"Yes, Harry. We do. We can trust him."

"Speak for yourself." Draco chuckled.

"You trust me and you know it Malfoy. Why else would you leave it up to me to make sure your girl was safe?" Slate brought up a good point.

"I still hate you." Draco smiled at him.

"Glad to see some things never change." Hermione smiled leaning on Ron.

"What's going on?" We heard Avery's voice as she sat up slowly rubbing her head.

"You're awake." Draco turned to her.

"You almost died." Ron said casually.

"What?" She freaked out. "W-why did you guys save me?"

"We aren't bad people Av." Harry said moving up next to her.

"I'm so sorry Harry. I just- Voldemort- h-he was going to kill me if I refused. I didn't want to die." She cried.

Harry pulled her into a hug and let her cry on him.

"It's ok." He comforted her as she continued to cry in his arms.

I didn't know what to say to her. She was one of my best friends and she lied to me.

"Avery." I got her attention. "Answer me this. Did you ever even care about us or was that all just part of your plan? Become close to us so you could spy for the dark lord and make sure that Draco never got too close to any of us?"

"Of course I did." Her face softened and she wiped her tears away. "I never told him about you and Draco because I loved you guys so much. I thought that if I just got rid of the baby then he would never find out about the two of you but now I see that I was wrong. I'm so sorry, Natalie."

"Thanks." I smiled slightly at her.

"Guys we should probably get going." Hermione said. "We have a lot of rebuilding to do."

"Hermione's right." Harry nodded. "See you around Avery."

She sat there expecting to be invited along but I couldn't deal with that. She knows why she isn't a part of the group and although I feel bad for her, I can't trust her again after that.

I know that she only did what she did for her and her family's life but it was still a big betrayal.

I walked out with Draco's hand in mine with my friends and brother behind me.

We walked through the castle looking at all of the rubble and admiring the once beautiful, now destroyed castle.

I know that one day, this place will be back up and running just like it once was. And when that time comes, our baby will be all ready to attend this school.

A/N:

I know this one was much shorter than the others but I didn't want to add anything else to it.
