Alexander Grant has been rendered speechless.

I mean, I never thought I'd see the day.

I guess I can't be surprised considering the circumstances. I did bring him here to meet one of his favorite athletes.

It's just, he looks so happy.

I've spent the last few seconds of my time just looking at him and Hunter interacting.

Danielle seems to be doing the same. "You know, he doesn't say it often but this is his favorite part of the job."

I turn to her and her daughter, "I can tell." There's this certain smile on each of their faces that just makes me sure of it. "So, how have you guys been? I haven't seen you in a long time."

"Too long." she laughs as her daughter idles near her leg. "Obviously there's a few more members of our family, but we've been good. How's your family?"

"Mom's good. Still working at the hospital. And dad, he's still coaching at the rink." I tell her. "Not much has changed." I shrug.

"Really?" Danielle questions and turns her attention back to the others. "Nothing has changed?"

I look over and sarcastically roll my eyes at her instigation. "You asked about my family Danielle."

"Which includes you too Evie," she reasons. "So...?"

I give her silence as I chew the inside of my lip. "We're just...testing things out." I put it that way only because I'm terrible with words and even worse at explaining whatever this is between Alex and I.

It's good. I think.

Well, it at least feels good.

I think Danielle can sense my slight uncertainty with the whole thing, so she doesn't push any further. "So how are you and Hunter? Things going well?" I divert off the topic.

She nods, "Yeah, they're great." Her daughter taps at her leg and motions to be picked up. "Natasha here has gotten pretty good with her words. Isn't that right Nat?"

Natasha's face turns to mine and I immediately notice her big, bright green eyes. "Hello," she waves her little fingers at me as Danielle fixes her woolen hat.

I don't contain the smile that spreads across my face. "Hi Nat." I stretch out a finger to her which she grabs.

God she is adorable.

"Thanks again for helping me out with this, I really appreciate it." I repeat my gratitude for the millionth time.

Danielle only shrugs and shakes her head. "No need to thank me. When I heard you needed a special favor for a seemingly special friend, I was glad to help."

I give her a tight smile and look over to Alex again. I can't seem to shake the uncomfort whenever Danielle mentions Alex and I being here together.

I know that's the whole point of this trip, but I just still can't wrap my head around the fact that I'm doing this.

I can feel my inner urge to just run away trying to kick in.

"What are you thinking about?" Danielle interrupts my train of impulsively bad thought.

I darted my eyes to hers, "Just how I know this can be a good thing...and how I'm too scared to just go for it." I admit it simply.

I can feel the thoughts looming. "Relax Evie,"
